This week on Ammmerican Idol, it's...well, usually Idol will officially announce the themes a few days before the show airs, but this week they didn't. So is it a super special, wonderful theme that will blow us right off our feet? Nope, but it is 'Songs from this Decade,' which limits the remaining seven to songs from the last two years and is usually one of my favorite episodes of the season.

It's another week of performances on Ammmerican Idol! This week, Gwen Stefani and No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal are the guest coaches, Tommy Hilfiger makes an inconspicuous disappearance from the show and Ryan reminds us that this week is eighties week with an old picture of Randy.

Thankfully, Idol chose not to go with a specific artist's songbook this week - one can only take so much of a weird sort of karaoke night where the jukebox is stuck on one artist - and instead had the contestants perform songs from their own idols (solo and as part of three trios), resulting in some variety at long last.
