Round House Theatre Presents SEMINAR, Now thru 3/2

Round House Theatre launches the 2014 portion of its Bethesda season with Pulitzer Prize nominee Theresa Rebeck's hit comedy Seminar. This area premiere reunites longtime Round House favorites director Jerry Whiddon and actor Marty Lodge, who have previously worked together on some of the company's most popular and acclaimed productions. This fast, funny, and smart new comedy runs today, February 5 thru March 2. Press night is Monday, February 10, 2014.

Washington Post's Peter Marks to Host Arena Stage's Summit Series of Panels

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces a rare opportunity for D.C.-area theatergoers to hear groups of distinguished actors, directors, playwrights and artistic directors discuss their work and the myriad challenges facing their art form, in a special series of three Monday evening panels entitled The Summit. Organized and moderated by The Washington Post Theater Critic Peter Marks, the three free installments will gather some of the region's most accomplished theater professionals to talk about everything from their passion for their craft to the problems of trying to lure new audiences to live theater.

Shakespeare Theatre Company Stages A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, Now thru 1/5

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum will take the stage at the Shakespeare Theatre Company this holiday season. Making his STC mainstage directing debut, STC Associate Director Alan Paul heads up the hilarious and fun musical farce based on the classic plays of ancient Roman playwright Plautus. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum will play at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) from today, November 21, 2013-January 5, 2014.

McCarter Theatre's THE WINTER'S TALE Opens Tomorrow

McCarter Theatre Center, in association with The Shakespeare Theatre Company, will celebrate the opening night of William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale on Friday April 5. The production runs through April 21.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company announces casting for the two remaining productions of their 25th Anniversary Season. The Servant of Two Masters, running from May 15-June 24 at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street NW), and The Merry Wives of Windsor, running from June 12-July 15 at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW), both feature new and familiar faces to STC's stages.

Last night before a crowd of 200 theatre makers and theatre lovers, theatreWashington announced the nominees for the 28th Helen Hayes Awards. The National Theatre's Helen Hayes Gallery set the scene for the announcement of nominees in 26 categories for artistic excellence and the announcement of the recipient of the 2012 John Aniello Award for Outstanding Emerging Theatre Company. The Helen Hayes Awards is one of the most prestigious honors for artists and theatre companies in Washington's vibrant theatre scene.

Robert Cuccioli, Brooks Ashmanskas, et al. Set for Ford's Theatre's 1776

Washington D.C.'s Ford's Theatre has just anounced the cast for their upcoming production of 1776. Featuring direction by Peter Flynn and choreography by Michael Bobbitt, the production will run March 9 through May 19. The star studded cast will include Robert Cuccioli as John Dickinson, Brooks Ashmanskas as John Adams, William Diggle as Thomas Jefferson, Gregory Maheu as Edward Rutledge, and Tom Story as Charles Thomson.
