The New York Times reports that the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has announced that actor, comedian Eddie Murphy will no longer be hosting the upcoming telecast of the Oscars.
According to the Huffington Post, Brett Ratner has resigned his role as producer for the upcoming 84th Academy Awards show. Ratner recently made some offensive remarks, including a gay slur during a recent Q & A session in which he was promoting his new film, 'Tower Heist'.

Brett Ratner and Don Mischer will produce the 84th Academy Awards telecast, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak announced today. This will be Ratner's first involvement with the Oscar show; Mischer will for the second year in a row serve as a producer and as the telecast director.
