The MTH Theater at Crown Center is pleased to announce casting for Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece, Into The Woods. The fifteen person ensemble will be led by Broadway veteran Val Fagan (The Addams Family, Forbidden Broadway) in the role of the Witch. Artistic Director Sarah Crawford will direct the production and the remainder of the ensemble includes Chelcie Abercrombie, Samantha Barboza, Patrick Beasley, John Cleary, Cara Hampton, Robert Hingula, Lindsay James, Tom Lancaster, Korrie Murphy, Andrew Schmidt, Emily Vargo, Morgan Walker, and Kayla Wilkins. Jeremy Watson will co music direct alongside Crawford. (more...)

As spectacular as the lights of the Aurora Borealis, that is how Spinning Tree Theatre lit up the stage on opening night of Fiddler on the Roof at the Just Off Broadway Theatre. Jerry Bock wrote the music, Sheldon Harnick the lyrics, and Joseph Stein the book for Fiddler on the Roof, a musical based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Dairyman) and others stories written by Sholem Aleichem. Spinning Tree Theatre closes its fourth season with the timeless musical classic Fiddler on the Roof. The 2014-2015 season of Spinning Tree featured several firsts for the theatrical production company. The addition of Fiddler on the Roof as the first year of four shows, the first time a Spinning Tree production was directed by someone outside the organization (Walter Coppage directing Black Pearl Sings!), and the first time the company produced a local playwright (Frank Higgins Black Pearl Sings!). BWW Review: THE NORMAL HEART Opens at the Off Center Theatre in Kansas City

The heart gripping, emotional roller coaster, The Normal Heart opened at the Off Center Theatre in Crown Center on October 3. Larry Kramer wrote the largely autobiographical play that opened in 1985 Off-Broadway and on Broadway in April of 2011. The Normal Heart considered one of the best plays to deal with the epidemic was also one of the first productions to bring it to the stage. (more...)

The Heartland Men's Chorus and the Gateway Men's Chorus from St. Louis, Mo. united on Friday night March 29 at the Folly Theater in Kansas City, Mo. The combined chorus presented I Am Harvey Milk, with words and music by Andrew Lippa. The production brought together three guest conductors, Dustin Stephen Cates, Al Fischer the Artistic Director for the Gateway Men's Chorus, and Dr. Tim Seelig the Artistic Director of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus. The Heartland Men's Chorus unites with the St. Louis Gateway Men's Chorus to bring "I Am Harvey Milk," to the stage of the Folly Theatre in Kansas City, Mo. The celebration of the life of civil rights icon Harvey Milk takes the stage on March 29 and 30. Preceding the Kansas City performance, the choruses will present a free preview on March 8 at 7 p.m., at the Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia, Mo. An encore performance will take the stage of the Washington University's 560 Music Center in St. Louis on April 5. (more...)
