Conceived, written, and directed by the legendary Ellen Stewart, AESCULAPIUS tells how the son of sun god Apollo and mortal maiden Coronis transcends to his rightful place in the heavens because of his great work in medicine. It is believed that Aesculapius' story has never before been told on stage.

This new musical adapted from the novella by Willa Cather is written and directed by Mary Fulham with lyrics by FringeNYC Overall Excellence Award winner Paul Foglino (Hercules in High Suburbia), and music by Mark Ettinger. Performances run through March 8 at La MaMa (74A East 4th Street). COMING, APHRODITE! is a love story about a man, a woman, and a dog that explores the pursuit of art and the nature of success. A painter, Don Hedger and his dog, Caesar, live in a one-room apartment. Their daily life is upended when Eden Bower, an aspiring actress who likes to sing show tunes and exercise in the nude, moves in next door.

Acclaimed puppet artist and director Theodora Skipitares presents her world-premiere adaptation of Medea - an epic collection of myths about a betrayed woman and an adventuresome hero who travels to the edges of the known world, featuring five-foot Bunraku-style puppets, masks, live music and video projections - with previews beginning March 13, prior to an official opening on March 16 at La MaMa Annex (74A East 4th Street).

La MaMa e.t.c., in association with The Forty Hour Club, is proud to present the World Premiere of The Honor and Glory of Whaling, written by La MaMa resident playwright Michael Gorman. Performances will run from December 28, 2007 to January 6, 2008 in a limited engagement at La MaMa's Annex Theater in NYC.

On September 24, 2007, the IT Awards (New York Innovative Theatre Awards), the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, announced the 2007 award recipients at a spectacular evening hosted by Julie Halston. The awards were announced last evening at 7PM in FIT's Haft Auditorium located in Building C of FIT's campus on 27th Street (bwt 7/8 aves) to a standing room only crowd.

Mythic Greek hero Herakles and seductress Phaedra meet in The Roaring 20's in Ellen Stewart's new adaptation of Herakles Via Phaedra at La MaMa ETC., where it will run from May 18th through June 11th, with an opening set for May 21st

The New York 'IT' Awards (sponsored by Backstage) takes place September 19th at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
