On Monday, September 16, 2019, The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation announced the 2019 recipients at the annual Off-Off-Broadway IT Awards. For the past 15 years, the It Awards have celebrated the vibrant and creative indie theatre community under the dedicated leadership of Executive Directors Shay Gines and Nick Micozzi who are stepping down and at the ceremony introduced new leadership for the organization: Cat Parker, Artistic Director of Articulate Theatre Company; Ariel Estrada, Producing Artistic Director of Leviathan Lab Projects; and Jazmyn Arroyo, Co-Founding Artistic Director of Step 1 Theatre Project will join Akia Squiteri, Artistic Director of Rising Sun Performance Company as Directors of the organization.

Playhouse on the Square, in partnership with An Anonymous Company and super sponsor Dr. Thomas Ratliff, present the theatre classic, originally produced in the New Apollo Theatre and the Century Theatre in 1979, running for 382 performances.

The inaugural Rave Theater Festival wrapped up over the weekend, and festival awards were given to select shows and performers.  Winners were chosen for outstanding production, outstanding musical, outstanding play, outstanding performances, outstanding direction, outstanding design, outstanding original score, outstanding book of a musical, outstanding choreography, outstanding ensemble, and outstanding marketing.  Fancy Maids by Harold Hodge Jr. led the awardees with three.  Four more shows were recognized with two awards each, including Back, Oceanborn, The Perfect Fit, and The Tycoons!.

The It Awards have celebrated the vibrant and creative theatre community for the past 15 years.  The official announcement took place at (Le) Poisson Rouge by six celebrated artists and producers from the community including: Jazmyn Arroyo, Jennifer Betite Yen, Iyvon Edebiri, Chris Ignacio, Ashley Rogers, and Erez Ziv.

There is good news at the Rose Theatre! NEWSIES The Broadway Musical opened on June 1 running through the 17th. BRAVO! I am extra sold on this show.

Between Two Boroughs gave Broadway World an exclusive sneak peek inside rehearsals for their upcoming World Premiere of Charise Greene's Cannibal Galaxy: a love story, directed by Jenn Haltman which will run at the New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street between Washington and Greenwich Street), June 8-17. The cast features Jason C.
