There's a new tonsorial parlor setting up shop at Palm Beach Dramaworks this summer, and the proprietor possesses skills that can best be described as cutthroat. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, the brilliant Tony Award-winning musical thriller by Stephen Sondheim (music and lyrics) and Hugh Wheeler (book), opens at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre on July 14, following a specially priced preview on July 13. This deliciously macabre and witty tale of a throat-slitting barber and his enterprising accomplice, Mrs. Lovett, who grinds his victims into meat pies, runs through August 6. Clive Cholerton directs and Emmanuel Schvartzman, making his PBD debut, is the musical director.

It's (Almost) Showtime! BEETLEJUICE Musical Will Get Developmental Lab This Fall

Say his name three times and he might just arrive on Broadway!Now according to an Equity casting notice, the show will get a developmental lab in September. The musical features music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect and a book by Anthony King & Scott Brown. Timbers remains on board for the project. Connor Gallagher will join the creative team as choreographer.

The Cleveland Orchestra announces a three-concert At the Movies series for the 2017-18 season. Following the popularity of film screenings with live music during the past six seasons, the Orchestra continues the tradition with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, North by Northwest Live, and DISNEY IN CONCERT: Tim Burton's The Nightmare before Christmas. All three movies will be projected on a giant screen above the Severance Hall stage, with music performed live. World-renowned artist Marina Abramovic mentored one of her pieces, Of Light. One year after Bjork attended that same performance and after creating such an impact, Bjork listed her as one of her artistic inspirations in The Guardian. And now, after having performed internationally and received endorsements from such art geniuses, theater producer and director Samantha Shay returns to Portland with a new show 'Vasalisa', a raw folktale in collaboration with one of her spiritual mentors and localartist, teacher, and healer Gerri Ravyn Stanfield.
