Chromolume Theatre at the Attic has produced Tim Acito's very cleverly written ZANNA, DON'T! with very mixed results. Major sound glitches opening night marred the ability to clearly hear all of Acito's very witty lyrics set in a fictional high school where gayness is the norm and heteros are shunned.

Writers seeking fame and recognition are generally advised to steer clear of the task of writing books for Broadway musicals. Regarded by theatre insiders to be perhaps the most vital, yet most underappreciated element of a successful musical, the book oftentimes receives the least credit when a musical's a hit, but is the first thing blamed if it's a flop.
The Mezzanine closes a hit-packed 2015 and kicks off another great year with two blockbuster musicals mounted in the one-of-a-kind local space and headlined by Colorado Springs Conservatory alums, regional and national performers, as well as, in one case, members of an original cast.

Enter Zanna, a magical, musical fairy who, with a wave of his wand, brings true love to one and all.

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Zanna, Don't! Class Reunion, a concert presentation of the 2003 Off-Broadway cult favorite benefiting the Hetrick-Martin Institute for LGBTQ Youth. Tim Acito's beloved musical fairy tale is set in a world where gay is the norm, the chess team is cool, and the football players are dorks. When the students put on an original musical about the hot-button issue of straights in the military (because if musical theater won't address important political issues, what will?), the opposite-sex leads realize their true feelings for each other and all hell breaks loose in the quiet town of Heartsville. It's up to magical matchmaker Zanna to put things right and bring love to all - including himself!
