Contemporary Classics and RK Productions will present the Seattle premiere of THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE July 14-August 14 at the Ballard Underground, 2220 NW Market St in Downtown Ballard.
What do you get when you grab a bunch of perky high school students and have them all magically fall in love while putting together the school musical, all while wearing bright, rainbow colored-preppy wear? If you said High School Musical, then you're... well, okay, you're right. But actually, the same description can be applied to another high school-set musical fairy tale-this one, though, has a particularly significant difference. This one is called ZANNA DON'T!, the latest production at Orange County's Theatre Out now playing through July 31. The Gay and Lesbian Theater group's revival of the 2003 off-Broadway show (which featured Queer Eye's Jai Rodriguez in the original title role) sprinkles this high school musical with a lot of winks, twinks, and plenty of sequin-accented costumes.
Contemporary Classics will revive their hit summer production of ZANNA, DON'T! for a third time this summer June 25-July 3 at Seattle Repertory Theatre's PONCHO Forum, coinciding with the 2010 Seattle Gay Pride Festival.
Celebration Theatre is thrilled to announce that the West Coast Premiere of its smash-hit, critically-acclaimed new musical, THE WOMEN OF BREWSTER PLACE - The Musical, with music, book and lyrics by Tim Acito (Zanna, Don't), choreography by Ameenah Kaplan (Altar Boyz, Frosty the Snow Manilow), musical direction by Greg Nabours (A New Brain), directed by Michael Matthews (Haram Iran, Beautiful Thing) and produced for Celebration Theatre by David Tarlow is EXTENDING through Sunday, June 27 at Celebration Theatre, 7051B Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood.

Zanna, Don't! is now playing at Desert Stages through April 25, 2010. Zanna, Don't! is set in a world where homosexuality is the norm, and heterosexuals are considered an oddity. The town is called Heartsville, USA. All of the characters are homosexual, or so we think, until one bold student writes a musical about forbidden heterosexual attraction in the army, and the true, closeted desires of two of the cast members come to the surface. A world much like our own and the chaos that ensues when people love who they want to, gay or straight.
