Inspired by Thornton Wilder's 1938 drama of everyday existence, The Ordinary Theater will present the World Premiere of THE JOYS OF FANTASY. Playwright/director Mitchell Polin re-mixes Wilder's classic ideas with literary, theatrical, musical and visual arts innovations to create a wholly original theater experience. This site-specific multimedia production will be presented for a limited engagement beginning July 8 at Twelve21, an 8,000 square foot event space in Chelsea.

The Hackmatack Playhouse in Berwick officially opened Wednesday night with Our Town. The audience was apparently delighted with the show, and also enjoyed the fresh strawberry shortcake during intermission as one of New England's most charming and quaint summer theatres began their 37th season.

Westport Country Playhouse, Westport, Connecticut, will stage this lesser-known work by Jonathan Larson, June 23 through July 18. The director is Scott Schwartz, who helmed the original off-Broadway production of 'tick, tick... BOOM!,' winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award for outstanding musical.

Wilder takes the audience through the cycle of life with experiences with which they can relate. In the play, Wilder has the Stage Manager speak directly to the audience making the audience feel like they are a part of the story.

A cappella group Tuckermans at 9 returns to Hackmatack Playhouse, 538 School Street, (Route 9) Berwick, Maine, on Saturday, June 20. The group performs many long-time audience favorites as well as recently added tunes. Tuckermans at 9's original, high-octane arrangement of the Temptations' classic Motown anthem, 'I Can't Get Next to You', received praise from judges at the recent 2009 Harmony Sweeps a cappella competition at Tufts University in Massachusetts.

Obie and Lucille Lortel Award winner David Cromer returns to the central role of ?Stage Manager' in his critically-acclaimed staging of Thornton Wilder's timeless play Our Town on Friday 6/19 (to honor a prior commitment, Mr. Comer departed the company May 1st for a 5-week hiatus). Scott Parkinson, who assumed the role during his absence, gives his final performance June 18th. Mr. Cromer will continue in the role through August 16th and will make his Broadway directorial debut when rehearsals begin for the Broadway revival productions of Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound, shortly thereafter.

Mark Lamos will direct 'That Championship Season' at Westport Country Playhouse, his first production since being named artistic director in February 2009 at the historic theater in Westport, Connecticut. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award and New York Drama Critics Circle Award, 'That Championship Season' by Jason Miller will be the fifth production in the Playhouse's six-play 2009 season. It will run August 25 through September 12.
