Opera Naples has announced its first opera of the  "Come Alive!" 2016/2017 season, Puccini's Turandot, performed at Artis Naples on November 9, 2016 at 8pm. It's chilling storyline includes a vengeful, beautiful princess playing a deadly game of riddles with noble pursuers and a prince that challenges her to the very end. This international favorite will be scheduled for one night only at Artis Naples located at 5833 Pelican Bay Boulevard.

 Pittsburgh Opera announces its 2016-2017 season. The season includes the very first world premiere in our 78 year history and two Pennsylvania premieres. The season will encompass four operas produced at the Benedum Center and two Resident Artist operas - the annual production at Pittsburgh CAPA Theater and the Second Stage Project at Pittsburgh Opera Headquarters.

The performance, which Mr. Domingo will conduct, will feature Irish mezzo-soprano Patricia Bardon as Carmen, tenor Brandon Jovanovich as Don José, Italian bass-baritone Ildebrando D'Arcangelo as Escamillo and South African soprano Pretty Yende in her Company debut as Micaëla. The production, originally created by Spanish director Emilio Sagi and previously seen in Los Angeles in 2004 and 2008, will be directed by Trevore Ross.

Carmen gehört zu den bekanntesten Opern der Musikgeschichte; die Arien Habanera, Toréador, en garde! Toréador!, La fleur que tu m'avais jetée sind weltberühmt. Das besondere an der Inszenierung von Peter Beauvais und Soren Schuhmacher (letzterer ist für die neue Überarbeitung verantwortlich) ist das scheinbar einfache im essentiellen. Thiago Arancam wird in den Vorstellungen von 'Carmen' am 24. und 27. Februar sowie am 1. März 2012 den Don José anstelle von Massimo Giordano singen, der aufgrund eines doppelten Beinbruchs dazu gezwungen ist, seine Opern-Auftritte abzusagen. In der Titelpartie debütiert Elena Maximova an der Wiener Staatsoper. Rollendebüts im Haus am Ring geben KS Carlos Álvarez als Escamillo, Maija Kovalevska als Micaëla, Chen Reiss als Frasquita und Marco Caria als Morales. Yves Abel dirigiert erstmals 'Carmen' an der Wiener Staatsoper.

Unless you've never seen 'Carmen,' one of the most legendary operas ever written, San Francisco Opera's production of 'Carmen' will come across as old news. The chorus and orchestra, led by the spirited conductor, Nicola Luisotti, bring the only real action and vitality present in the production, while Anita Rachvelishvili (who shares the title role with Kendall Gladen) and a few supporting characters deliver the only memorable voices of the production.

Washington National Opera General Director Plácido Domingo has announced the company's 2010-11 season, including productions, casting and creative teams, and performance dates for all main stage operas. Opening September 11, 2010 at the Kennedy Center Opera House, the company's 55th season encompasses 45 performances of five productions, all new to Washington: Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera, a new production of Strauss' Salome, Puccini's Madama Butterfly, the company premiere of Gluck's Iphigénie en Tauride, and Donizetti's Don Pasquale.
