Cleveland Play House (CPH) brings to life Lynn Nottage's complex story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Rust Belt drama Sweat. Set in Reading, PA, this relevant story offers audience members suspense through its intricate portrayal of characters battling to survive in a city crippled by economic stagnation. CPH Artistic Director Laura Kepley will direct. Previews begin on October 13th, with press opening on October 19th at the Outcalt Theatre in Playhouse Square. West Coast Premiere of Adam Bock's Black Comedy A Life to Open at The Armory, Following Successful Off-Broadway Run

Adam Bock's A Life, commissioned by Portland Center Stage at The Armory, will receive its West Coast debut at The Armory following the success of the play's world premiere in New York. A Life begins preview performances on September 29, opens on October 5, and runs through November 11 in the Ellyn Bye Studio. Associate Artistic Director Rose Riordan, who has frequently partnered with Bock, will direct. Nat DeWolf (Broadway: Take Me Out) will make his company debut as the astrology-loving and hopelessly single Nate Martin. DeWolf is joined by Cycerli Ash, also making her debut at The Armory, as well as returning artists Dana Green (Major Barbara and many others) and Gary Norman (Our Town).

Theatre production company Parity Productions, a producer of new work that ensures they fill at least 50% of the creative positions (playwrights, directors, and designers) on their productions with cis women and/or trans and gender nonconforming (TCNG) artists, has awarded two commissions to Liz Kerin for Stop-Motion and Azure Osborne-Lee for Mirrors. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, September 26 at the Second Annual Parity Gala at Gotham Comedy Club.

Mike Daisey Returns To Seattle With A PEOPLE'S HISTORY

Seattle Repertory Theatre is excited to present famed monologist Mike Daisey's newest work, A People's History. In this series of 18 stand-alone monologues, Daisey uses his razor-sharp wit to explore a history of the U.S. he was not taught in high school. From the first landing of Columbus to the election of Donald Trump, Daisey will contrast his high school history book with Howard Zinn's electrifying A People's History Of The United States. Each night of the production will feature a fresh chapter from the history book - chapter content to be performed night to night will not be disclosed in advance of the performance as part of the experience.
