Winners Announced For the Short Play Festival At The Players Theatre

The streets are heating up in New York City as the Players Theatre Short Play and Musical Festival celebrates eight years of hot new plays that define it unique qualities. 15 writers from as far away as California participated in the festival of 15 minute slices of urban life. Each week a 'Best of the Week' play was selected and awarded a $100 prize.

A Proclamation! Tawnydog Productions has announced that the world premiere of Erin Murray Quinlan's lighthearted and whimsical new Off Broadway musical comedy GOD SAVE QUEEN PAM will take place on Thursday, the twenty-first day of June, Two Thousand and Eighteen with a limited engagement run through the twenty ninth day of July in the same year of our Lord. There is only one New York City! Outspoken, outrageous and over the top, NYC residents are the perfect subjects for urban drama. The Players Theatre Short Play and Musical Festival and Be Bold! Productions encourage playwrights to take these stories and put them on the stage in the NYC - themed festival each June. Celebrating its 8th year, "Only in New York" opened Thursday, June 7 and runs for three weeks. Each week five original short plays or musicals, by a variety of playwrights (including one high school student) will be presented with a "Best of the Week" production will being selected by audience vote.

Theater for the New City, Crystal Field, Executive Director, presents Cyberbabies: A Musical Dot.Comedy, a world premiere musical with book, music and lyrics by Craig Silver. Lissa Moira directs a cast of 14, including William Broderick, Jef Canter, Selear Duke, Katie Fann, Becca Gottlieb, Jordan Griffey, Zander Kirby, David "Zen" Mansley, Michael Maricondi, Olivia Medley, James Parks, Johnathan Fox Powers, Dani Westhead, and Amanda Yachechak.  Performances will be staged at the Community Space at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue (bet. 9th and 10th Streets), New York, NY 10003 from May 31-June 17, 2018.

Abigail, Sarah, and Moira - three Amish girls from a nearby community - arrive at the park for their very first day of Rumspringa, the year in an Amish teenager's life when they are given the opportunity to explore the 'English' world. In their one day at Lucky Land, each girl has a life-changing adventure that will alter the way she thinks about her upbringing - and herself - forever. And when Abigail falls for Shane, a troubled but kind-hearted teen from Florida, she must make the ultimate decision: return to the safety of the Amish world or leave her family behind in favor of a life she's never known and a feeling she never expected.

A BLANKET OF DUST to Premiere at Flea Theater Mainstage

'A Blanket of Dust' is the story of a modern day Antigone.  The daughter of a U.S. Senator seeks justice for her husband, who has died in the World Trade Center. Her ordeal drives her to the outer fringes of society.  After struggling to establish facts that the government, the media, her family and her countrymen deny, she protests with a harrowing act of sacrificial tragedy.  The play's world premiere will be presented Off-Broadway by Delphi Film from June 6 to 30 at The Flea Theater Mainstage,  20 Thomas Street, directed by Chris Murrah.
