Quintessence Theatre Group launches its fifth season of progressive classic theatre with an all-male Shakespeare repertory: AS YOU LIKE IT presented in rotating repertory with RICHARD II. Bringing together the best professional actors and designers from Philadelphia and across the country, Artistic Director Alexander Burns leads this collective of artists on a mission to ignite the classics through visceral, actor-focused and text-driven productions.

According to the Toronto Star, Chilna Kennedy, who made her Broadway debut in 2012's Jesus Christ Superstar, will soon be filling Tony winner Jessie Mueller's shoes. The Toronto-based actress will reportedly join the Broadway production of BEAUTIFUL as 'Carole King' in early 2015, when current star Mueller leaves to lead the national tour.

The Old Globe's seventh annual Summer Shakespeare Intensive presented its culminating performance on Monday, August 18 at 8:00 p.m. with performances of 50-minute versions of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar and The Comedy of Errors in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. As the 2014 season draws to an end, Davis McCallum, Artistic Director of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) gave friends and fans something to look forward to when he announced the 2015 season at a special Sneak Peak event on Saturday evening. Noting that the pieces that he has chosen share in the deep belief in the magic of storytelling, McCallum announced that the 2015 productions will be The Winter's Tale, A Midsummer Night's Dream, An Iliad by Lisa Peterson and Dennis O'Hare, and a fourth, soon to be revealed production. 'Each of these pieces aims to transport the audience with the simplest and most powerful of theatrical means - language, wit, movement, commitment, and passion,' he told the assembled crowd.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Steve Martin is in final negotiations to join Disney's upcoming family comedy MAGIC CAMP. Martin also just wrote a new draft of the script with Stu Zicherman (A.C.O.D.).

Cabaret at The Merc's new 2014 Summer Series followed up Next to Normal with the Tony Award-winning musical sensation, Spring Awakening, book and lyrics by Steven Sater, music by Duncan Sheik, based on the play by Frank Wedekind, musical direction by Cris O'Bryon, choreography by Evan D'Angeles and directed by J. Scott Lapp.

The Cygnet Theatre will be presenting a couple of Sam Shepard classics, including 'Fool for Love' and 'True West.'

Moonlight Stage Productions' 34th summer season comes to a triumphant close with the Southern California Regional Premiere of the Tony Award-nominated musical CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, based on the hit film of the same name that starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. Performances are September 10 to 27.

The Old Globe presents World Premiere of Bright Star, a new American musical featuring music by Edie Brickell and Steve Martin, lyrics by Brickell, and book by Martin, based on an original story by Martin and Brickell. Directed by Walter Bobbie, Bright Star will run September 13 - November 2, 2014 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Jeremy Scott Lapp has been working in the theatre business for over 27 years performing in over 100 shows in and around San Diego County. He is an alumnus of the 2009 Lincoln Center Theatre Directors Lab West, a proud member of the SDC and a 2011 SDC Emerging Artist. In addition, he is a recipient of Noel Craig, PAMTA, Inland Theatre League, Patte, National Youth Theatre, Billy & Director's Choice awards.

Get ready for a wickedly good time when the bewitching musical comedy, The Witches of Eastwick, hits the Ogunquit Playhouse stage September 3 through 27. Based on the Warner Brothers hit motion picture, this hysterical and devilish show with its beautiful original score was declared "musical comedy heaven" by London's Daily Mail. The Ogunquit Playhouse is proud to have been selected by world-renowned theatre producer Cameron Mackintosh as the American Northeast premiere of his hit stage adaptation of The Witches of Eastwick.

The Old Globe's production of Shakespeare's The Two Gentlemen of Verona, directed by Globe alumnus, and Tony Award nominee Mark Lamos (Compleat Female Stage Beauty, Pentecost, Resurrection Blues) began on August 10 and opens tonight, August 16, at the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. The production runs through September 14, 2014.

Actors Alliance of San Diego has announced that they will be producing Carrie the musical as part of their 2014 AASD Summer Theatre Intensive. During our three week training program Emerging Professional Artist will focus on audition preparation, marketing materials, the Business of the Business, and will rehearse for their production of Carrie the Musical to be present at Moxie Theatre this weekend, August 16 - 17, 2014.

The TONY Award-winning score from Parade will be brought to life for one night only at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center on February 16, 2015. Recent TONY-winner, and original composer, Jason Robert Brown will be at the helm to direct a star-studded cast and full chorus as Music Director, joined by Olivier Award-nominee Gary Griffin as Director.

The 'Alley Theatre @ UH' season begins with Betty Buckley, Hallie Foote, Annalee Jefferies and Veanne Cox in award-winning Texas playwright Horton Foote's The Old Friends, a Southwestern premiere.

The Old Globe is currently presenting Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning musical Into the Woods, which made its World Premiere at The Old Globe in 1986. The production is an inventive reimagining by Fiasco Theater, directed by Noah Brody and Ben Steinfeld, in a production that originated at McCarter Theatre Center.

A great, big Broadway season is on its way, with fourteen productions already slated to open in the next few months. With several weeks until the craziness begins, there is still plenty of time to catch up on what's been going on at Broadway's already occupied theaters .
