The world premiere of Garth Fagan's 'Madiba,' a celebration of the indomitable life force of Nelson Mandela, one of the spiritual and political giants of the 20th century, will be the centerpiece of Garth Fagan Dance's 2011 season at The Joyce Theater, tonight - October 9.

The Joyce Theater Foundation is set to present The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, making its Joyce Theater debut with an all-Balanchine program, from October 19 - 23, 2011.

The Joyce Theater Foundation will present Houston Ballet, performing for the first time on the Joyce's intimate stage, from October 11 - 16, 2011.

Joyce SoHo will present four world premiere collaborative works between emerging choreographers and composers, as part of SONiC (Sounds of a New Century), a new city-wide festival of 21st century music featuring work by more than 100 composers age 40 and under.

Following the successful opening of its new home, The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) recently announced its 2011/2012 concert season, featuring an impressive roster of new and returning guest artists and an array of both classic repertoire and intriguing lesser-known works.

To kick off its 2011-2012 fall/winter season, The Joyce Theater is thrilled to present two one-week engagements by two of the world's leading flamenco artists from Spain, Israel Galván and Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenco. Israel Galván will open the season with a solo performance from September 20-25. From September 27 - October 2, Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenco, the company founded by Barrio in 1993 with her husband Artistic Director Martin Santangelo, will delight audiences with several pieces, including a New York premiere.

Celebrate Brooklyn will host a screening of of West Side Story in Prospect Park July 21. The event is free and will be held at 8pm.

The NORDC/NOBA Center for Dance (CFD), a cultural community partnership of the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission and the New Orleans Ballet Association, in collaboration with Friends of NORD, begins its annual Summer Intensive dance program today at Tulane University's McWilliams Hall.

KEIGWIN + COMPANY will launch "K + C Extended," a summer 2011 tour of large-scale works, beginning with performances at the renowned Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, June 22 - 26.

After the overwhelming success of last summer's presentation, the Gotham Arts Exchange returned to The Joyce Theater with the Gotham Dance Festival. Running through June 12, the Gotham Dance Festival presented six programs featuring ten choreographers - a who's who of North American modern dance, per say. The festival included the works of Brian Brooks, Monica Bill Barnes and Patrick Corbin to name a few. I had the honor of checking out the "Summer Sampler Matinee" on June 11. This particular program focused specifically on emerging choreographers. On the 11th, I saw the works of Ashleigh Leite, Julian Barnett and Sydney Skybetter.
