NYC Gets a Day of REVOLUTIONARY PLAYS SINCE 2000

In conjunction with the PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature, the Martin E. Segal Theatre Center (Frank Hentschker, Executive Director) announces a day dedicated to the emerging global voices of revolution from Egypt, Georgia, and the United States.

Morris, Janice Paran and Robbie Collier Sublett. Conceived by Jennifer R. Morris and directed by Anne Kauffman, previews begin April for this limited-run Off-Broadway engagement, with opening night slated for April 12.

The Civilians Add Post-Play Events for YOU BETTER SIT DOWN

As part of the previously announced run of YOU BETTER SIT DOWN: TALES FROM MY PARENTS' DIVORCE, the Flea and The Civilians today announced YOU BETTER SIT DOWN SALON NIGHTS: YOUR TALES TAKE THE STAGE, a series of post-play events.

Vineyard Theatre Extends NOW. HERE. THIS. Through April 28

Due to critical praise and popular demand, Vineyard Theatre has announced a final extension - now through April 28 - for the new musical NOW. HERE. THIS., which opened to rave reviews and sold out houses at The Vineyard on March 28. This will be the second and final extension for the show, which must close on April 28 due to season and artist schedules.

PICT 2012 Season Kicks Off With IN THE NEXT ROOM, Beginning 4/19

PICT launches its 2012 season with the Pittsburgh premiere of Sarah Ruhl's Pulitzer finalist In the Next Room or the vibrator play. The production features Brad Heberlee as Dr. Givings, Megan McDermott as Catherine Givings, Jessica Frances Dukes as Elizabeth, and Melinda Helfrich as Sabrina Daldry. Alan Stanford directs.

Segal Theatre Center Spring 2012 Season to Include EGYPT IN TRANSITION, MELODRAMA RECLAIMED, More

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center (Frank Hentschker, Executive Director) has announced the rest of its Spring 2012 season, featuring 11 free events at the Graduate Center, including rarely-seen performances, premiere readings of international playwrights, and day-long symposia on everything from ecologically inspired performance (for Earth Day!) to the Group Theatre to innovative American women producers.

Vineyard Theatre Extends NOW.HERE.THIS. Through April 22

NOW. HERE. THIS. which is currently receiving its world-premiere production at Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street), will extend by one-week - now through April 22 - due to popular demand and strong ticket sales, it has been announced by Artistic Director Douglas Aibel, and Co-Artistic Director Sarah Stern.

THE GREAT IMMENSITY Closes at Kansas City Rep, 3/18

The world premiere of The Great Immensity will take place at Kansas City Repertory Theatre's Copaken Stage, February 17-March 18. The Great Immensity is presented by Kansas City Rep and The Civilians, the center for investigative theatre led by Founding Artistic Director Steve Cosson.

Stars of both stage and screen joined the celebration when the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning Vineyard Theatre honored Tony Award-winner Linda Lavin at the Off-Broadway company's annual Gala on Monday, March 12 at the Hudson Theater in Manhattan. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere of Massacre (Sing to Your Children), by Obie Award-winning playwright Jose Rivera, directed by Brian Mertes. Performances will begin Wednesday, April 4th at Rattlestick Theater (224 Waverly Place - off Seventh Avenue South, between Perry & West 11th Streets). The official opening night is set for Thursday, April 12th. The production is scheduled to run through May 12th.

Cast Set for Broadway's THE LYONS

Nicky Silver's play THE LYONS -- a critical and popular success when it debuted last fall at Vineyard Theatre -- will transfer to Broadway's Cort Theatre (138 W. 48 St.) with its entire original cast expected to be inteact, including the Tony Award-winning stars Linda Lavin and Dick Latessa, along with Kate Jennings Grant, Brenda Pressley and Gregory Wooddell. Michael Esper is in negotionations to return as well. The Vineyard Theatre production of THE LYONS will be presented on Broadway by producer Kathleen K. Johnson. Mark Brokaw directs.

The Civilians (Steven Cosson, Artistic Director), the New York-based theatre company known for projects investigating real life topics, will be presenting a TEDTalk at the upcoming TED2012 Conference.
