Maryland Ensemble Theatre Announces 2017-18 Season

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is proud to announce its 20th season. As MET celebrates their 20th anniversary of producing MainStage programming, they open the season by presenting a magnifying glass on society with a promise to make theatre even more accessible. "I'm so pleased to have joined an organization whose artistic leadership team is dedicated to collaboration and the promise of making theatre accessible for ALL" says Christine Mosere, MET's Managing Director. "In fact, in honor of our 20th anniversary, MET has lowered our ticket pricing to $20 for every MainStage production."

BWW Review: AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE Serves up a Phantasmagorical Helping of Whipped Cream

An overview on the NYC Metropolitan Opera web site of choreographer Alexei Ratmansky's newest work, “Whipped Cream”, calls the ballet a “dollop of delightful whimsy”. Yet the full-length production by ABT's Artist in Residence, with a run at the opera house from May 23rd to July 1st 2017, is in fact a heaping serving of horror-infused revelry complete with drunken characters and an illness caused by overindulgence in sweets.

Gregory Maguire, best known for WICKED: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, which was turned into the best-selling Broadway musical Wicked, has struck gold again. Maguire has made a career out of fractured fairy tales, spinning new versions of tales from Lewis Carroll to Hans Christian Andersen to Charles Dickens. This coming fall, he has his eyes set on E.T.A. Hoffman's THE NUTCRACKER AND THE MOUSE KING, which was adapted by Alexandre Dumas and popularized bycomposer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in his now-iconic ballet.
