BWW Review: SATCHMO AT THE WALDORF Offers an Insightful Look at the Jazz Icon's Remarkable Life

John Douglas Thompson gives a tour de force multiple-character solo performance in SATCHMO AT THE WALDORF at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. It is easy to see why the New York Times described Thompson as one of the most compelling classical stage actors of his generation after witnessing his remarkable ability to totally transform himself into three very distinct and richly defined characters: jazz great Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong, his mob-connected and career-long manager Joe Glaser, and fellow jazz musician Miles Davis.

SATCHMO AT THE WALDORF Begins Tonight at The Wallis

Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts ('The Wallis') presents the Long Wharf Theatre and Shakespeare & Company Production of Satchmo at the Waldorf by Terry Teachout, directed by Long Wharf Theatre Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein and starring Obie winner John Douglas Thompson in a tour de force multiple-character solo performance, arriving in Los Angeles following hit sold-out runs at the Long Wharf Theatre, Shakespeare & Company and Off-Broadway. The engagement plays tonight, May 26 through June 7, 2015, in the Lovelace Studio Theater; press opening is May 27.

ON THE TOWN Launches Online Ticketing Reservation System

The 2015 Tony nominated musical On The Town announced today a brand new online reservation system, allowing for an online seat reservation prior to a ticket purchase. Beginning Friday, May 22, ticket-buyers can go to OnTheTownBroadway.com and reserve their tickets, at no charge, for an upcoming performance. Once the reservation is complete, the tickets can be paid for at the Lyric Theatre Box Office (213 West 42nd Street) up until one hour prior to curtain.

2015 New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards Go to HAMILTON and More Tonight

The New York Drama Critics' Circle previously named Between Riverside and Crazy, by Stephen Adly Guirgis, best play of the 2014-15 season. Hamilton was named best musical. The selections were made at the organization's 80th annual voting meeting, at the offices of Time Out New York in Manhattan. The awards will be presented at a private cocktail reception tonight, May 19.

Broadway's ON THE TOWN Will Launch National Tour Next Year; Tony Nominee Tony Yazbeck to Star!

Tony Yazbeck, nominated for a 2015 Tony Award for his leading role in the musical-comedy love letter to New York City ON THE TOWN, will reprise the role of 'Gabey' in select cities on the 2016-2017 national tour.  ON THE TOWN is nominated for four 2015 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Performance By a Leading Actor in a Musical (Tony Yazbeck), Best Choreography (Joshua Bergasse), and Best Direction of a Musical (John Rando).

New York Drama Critics' Circle Announces 2015 Winners Tonight

The winners of the 2015 New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards will be announced tonight, May 4, 2015 at 6pm. The selections were made at the organization's 80th annual voting meeting, at the offices of Time Out New York in Manhattan. The awards will be presented at a private cocktail reception on Tuesday, May 19.

A.C.T. to Close 2014-15 Season with LOVE AND INFORMATION, 6/3-8/9
