Kinney To Direct FIFTH OF JULY For Williamstown Theatre Festival 4/11-4/22

Williamstown Theatre Festival (Nicholas Martin, Artistic Director) announced today that Terry Kinney (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest; reasons to be pretty) will direct a production of Lanford Wilson's modern classic Fifth of July, which will play the WTF Main Stage from August 11 - 22, 2010. A co-production with Bay Street Theatre, this gentle comic drama from Wilson's beloved Talley Trilogy will be the final Main Stage production of the season.
Barefoot Theatre's 70/70 Project Concludes with UNEXPECTED TENDERNESS, 3/31

Barefoot Theatre Company will present the closing event of the 70/70 Project, a yearlong, worldwide festival showcasing 70 plays by the soon-to-be 71-year-old playwright. The celebration features a reading of Unexpected Tenderness, one of Horovitz's most personal plays, live music, a surprise guest host and more. This special evening will take place at the Bleecker Street Theatre (45 Bleecker between Lafayette and Mott streets) on Wednesday, March 31st, 2010. Cocktail hour is at 7pm; curtain rises at 8. Tickets are $25 per person.

NPR personality Joe Frank's one night performance of Is There Something Wrong?: An Evening of Spoken Word and Music has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 8 p.m. in the Steppenwolf Downstairs Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted St. Tickets purchased for the original performance date Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. will be honored.

The gossip blogs are abuzz this morning with news that Lily Allen has decided to retire from singing. The singer has 'confirmed' that she will be taking time off from music indefinitely and will thus not be recording a follow-up album to her wildly successful 'It's Not Me, It's You' or tour any further with this current record.

UK Rialto Chatter: Pop Star Lily Allen Headed to West End 'Reasons to Be Pretty'?

UK theatre site WhatsOnStage.com is reporting that pop star Lily Allen is planning to make her theatrical debut in 2010, starring in the West End production of Reasons to Be Pretty. She told journalists this weekend that her touring ends in March at which point she'll be ready to 'try something new.' The site also reports that she has started acting lessons in preparation.

The Los Angeles Times reports that MCC Theater has canceled the planned debut of resident playwright Neil LaBute's newest play, The Break of Noon. 'Noon' was expected to get an Off-Broadway bow for the upcoming theatre season.
