Bay Street Theatre is pleased to announce its 2010 Mainstage Summer Season. From a New York Premiere to an American classic by Lanford Wilson, from an outrageous Mamet farce to a star-studded dedication of its new 99-seat second stage, Bay Street Theatre is sure to be the place for fun this summer.

The season begins with the NEW YORK PREMIERE of Dissonance by Damian Lanigan. Relationships of the members of a string-quartet are put to the test and the bonds further strained when a rock star enters their midst. This witty play puts egos, loyalty and love to the test in a wise and ultimately moving evening of music and musicians. Dissonance is directed by Tony-nominated director Lonny Price, whose Broadway credits include 110 In The Shade, A Class Act, and Master Harold...and the Boys. He is currently directing the Sondheim Birthday Celebration with the New York Philharmonic. Dissonance runs from June 1 - 27th.

On Bay Street's stage from July 6 thru August 1st, is Fifth of July by Sag Harbor's own Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Lanford Wilson. Wilson's celebrated play focuses on the disillusionment with friends, family and American values in the wake of the Vietnam War. Alternately funny and profound, Fifth of July deals with a group of former student activists and friends, and the changes that have been wrought in their lives since leaving college. The New York Times calls Fifth of July, "the wisest and funniest play of its generation...". Fifth of July will be directed by award winning actor and director Terry Kinney whose Broadway credits include One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and reasons to be pretty. His numerous TV and Film credits include his role of Tim McManus on HBO's Oz. In addition, Kinney is the co-founder of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company with Gary Sinise and Jeff Perry. Fifth of July is a co-production with the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts where it will move following its run at Bay Street.

From August 10th thru September 5th, the wickedly funny courtroom farce Romance, by the renowned playwright David Mamet (Broadway's Race), wraps up the Mainstage Season. Romance is a roller coaster ride in which no one is left unscathed. Chiropractors, Catholics, Episcopalians, Jews, Gays, Lawyers, Blacks, Shakespeare and even World Peace are skewered as only Mamet can. Leave your ‘politically correct' hat at home for this one! "It made me weep with delight...Romance is funny. Extremely funny," says the Wall Street Journal.

Bay Street is offering a brand new $99 subscription for first time subscribers, presenting a savings of nearly 50% off of normal subscription rates. "We're trying to encourage the next generation of theater-goers in helping to keep the arts alive. Many local people have been supporting us and we want to be sure that they can afford to see what we do here. Where else can east-enders see Broadway talent for $33 a show?" says Executive Director Tracy Mitchell. As an added bonus, Bay Street has planned special subscriber nights so that locals and others can connect at Bay Street. These include Tuesday "Locals Night" with half price drinks all night, Wednesday "Wine Nights" with a free glass of wine, and "TGIFridays" and "Sunset Sundays" with half price drinks after each show. A limited number of these subscriptions are available through April.

In addition to the summer mainstage season, Bay Street is proud to announce the creation of a new 99-seat second stage. The stage, to be known as the ANNIE & ELI, will honor Anne Jackson and Eli Wallach and their lifetime achievements in the theatre arts. On Saturday, May 1st, Bay Street Theatre will host a star-studded evening to dedicate the stage with appearances and video taped tributes from their friends and colleagues including legendary artists such as Lauren Bacall, Zoe Caldwell, Barbara Cook, Harvey Keitel, Brian Murray, Patricia Neal, Mike Nichols, Joe Pintauro, Peter Reigert, Betsy von Furstenberg and Kate Winslet. The evening will kick-off with a cocktail reception followed by a special performance. Tickets for cocktails and the show are $150. A limited number of premium tickets will be available for $500, which will include dinner with the stars following the performance.

For subscriptions, as well as, single tickets or more information on all of these events, go to www.baystreet.org or call the Bay Street Box Office at 631-725-9500. Or visit us on the Long Wharf, Sag Harbor. Box office is now open Wed-Sat 11am-6pm.
