The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the full slate of talent from the musical theatre set to appear at the NYMF 10th Anniversary Gala, presented at the Hudson Theatre on Sunday, November 10th.

Joe's Pub at The Public welcomes the faithful and the faithless this holiday season with a winter program that includes Yiddish lullabies, kvetching, yuletide cheer, anti-consumerist sermons, sports, jazz, storytelling and of course Sandra Bernhard's hilarious and entertaining end-of-year free for all.

Star-studded holiday benefit SPARKLE: An All-Star Holiday Concert returns for 2nd year at XL Cabaret on Sunday, December 1st, 2013 at 7:30pm with proceeds benefiting the programs and services of The Actors Fund.

The Gender & Family Project will present its first annual benefit, A Night of A Thousand Genders, an evening of cocktails followed by a very special one-night-only cabaret evening celebrating the beauty and resilience of gender nonconforming youth and their families on Monday, December 2, 2013 from 6:30-9pm at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street).

Broadway stars Sierra Boggess and Telly Leung will celebrate the release of Starry-Eyed: 16 Stories that Steal the Spotlight with an event in Manhattan tonight, November 1st.

The brand new British born musical The 8th Fold will receive its world premiere in a specially conceived concert staging headlined by West End stars James Gillan (Wicked, Taboo) and Paul Spicer (Avenue Q, The Last 5 Years) at the Duchess Theatre on Sunday 10th November.

The biggest Monday Musicals to date took place at XL Cabaret on Monday, October 21st. Revelers celebrated XL Promotional Director Dougie Meyer's birthday and sang and danced along to VJ Tony Built's music and visuals from some of Broadway's biggest shows, which could be viewed across a half-dozen screens throughout the club. Broadway Records/Yellow Sound Label's original Broadway cast recording of the Tony Award-winning MATILDA THE MUSICAL is now available for digital download and will be available at the Shubert Theatre beginning tomorrow, September 27, 2013. On Tuesday, September 3rd, a very selected audience of lucky Austinites were invited to a special invitation-only screening of a developmental production of the Broadway-bound musical, Allegiance, hoping to raise funds and support to further bring the show to the Broadway stage. I was lucky enough to attend, and while it may be unconventional for a theater critic to review or even comment on a piece they technically did not see live (what was shown in Austin was a professionally filmed version of the world premiere production of Allegiance at the Old Globe in San Diego, CA) the show is too good to ignore.

Allegiance Texas has announced that George Takei will be coming to Austin on September 3 for an exclusive screening of the New American Musical Allegiance, with a live performance by Telly Leung and a Q&A immediately following.

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, has announced plans to augment its diverse programming with a varied new series of in-house productions including a new interview series, a new musicals-in-concert series (following-up on the success of the club's wildly successful High Fidelity in Concertevent), and a program for new composers. The venue will continue to present its popular Sondheim Unplugged series featuring some of Broadway's brightest stars sharing performances and behind-the-scenes anecdotes from their favorite Sondheim musicals.
