Now that the Metropolitan Opera has had a major success with its At-Home Gala, there are other opera companies with similar ideas. The Florence May Festival, (Maggio Musicale Fiorentino), will offer its presentation on Friday, May 1, 2020, at noon. P.D.T. Since many opera lovers are working from home, the audience should be enormous. 

The Vienna State Opera will stream Placido Domingo in Verdi's MACBETH on November 1st, 2019 - amid allegations that the opera star has for years harassed people he has worked with - as previously reported by BroadwayWorld and first reported by the Associated Press.

Carlo Rizzi is ready to enter an exciting period of work in the New Year. The conductor's 2015/16 season continues in January with a return to the Lyric Opera of Chicago for Matthew Ozawa's new production of Verdi's Nabucco. He heads to Milan the following month to begin rehearsals for Teatro alla Scala's eagerly awaited staging of Umberto Giordano's La cena delle beffe, an opera not seen at La Scala for eight decades. Rizzi's rich schedule also includes the world premiere of Iain Bell's In Parenthesis and the double-bill of Cavalleria rusticana and Pagliacci, staged to celebrate the 70th birthday of Welsh National Opera (WNO).

Jagde replaces the previously announced Ukrainian tenor Misha Didyk, who withdrew from the production for personal reasons.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the WFMT Radio Network announce that the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus' critically acclaimed performance of Verdi's Macbeth will be broadcast on November 22 and subsequently available for listening online, free and on demand for six weeks beginning November 24.

Lyric Opera of Chicago announced its 2014-2015 season today, which is set to include eight operas, a world premiere new opera, a one night only piano concert with internationally acclaimed pianist Lang Lang, and special family performances. Lyric's 2014-15 subscription season will offer 68 performances of eight different operas Saturday, September 27, 2014 through Sunday, March 15 , 2015. Lyric will also present 17 performances of a new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel in April 2015, continuing the company's American Musical Theater Initiative.

Riccardo Muti begins his fourth season as Music Director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) with a four-week residency, from tonight, September 19 to October 12, which features a celebration of Giuseppe Verdi's bicentennial.
