Chicago Symphony Orchestra's Performance of Verdi's REQUIEM MASS Streamed by Over 30 Websites Worldwide Today

The culmination of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's (CSO) celebration of the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi's bicentennial is a live webcast of Verdi's Requiem Mass, performed by CSO Music Director Riccardo Muti, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Symphony Chorus, and soprano Tatiana Serjan, mezzo-soprano Daniela Barcellona, tenor Mario Zeffiri, and bass Ildar Abdrazakov. The concert will be live streamed around the world, and viewable on more than 30 websites worldwide. Riccardo Muti, CSO music director since 2010, is widely considered to be the greatest living interpreter of Verdi's music.

In addition to CSO.org/Verdi and RiccardoMutiMusic.com, websites in more than 12 countries-including Italy, Japan, Germany, France, Spain, the UK, Sweden, Austria, Canada and Taiwan-will carry the stream live and on demand following the performance.

In the U.S. and Canada, the webcast will be carried live at the websites of American Public Media /Minnesota Public Radio, the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, WFMT, Naxos USA and Canada, WBEZ-FM 91.5,ChicagoOnTheAisle.com, Classical Voice North America, Chicago's Italian Cultural Institute, Italian American Chamber of Commerce and ChooseChicago, as well as at CSO.org/Verdi and facebook.com/ChicagoSymphony, the CSO's Facebook page.

For viewers in Chicago, the sold-out performance will be simulcast live in Millennium Park's Jay Pritzker Pavilion on the new state-of-the-art LED screen, and at Benito Juarez Community Academy Performing Arts Center (1450 W. Cermak) in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood. Admission to the live webcast and complimentary postconcert dessert reception at Benito Juarez Community Academy is free, but tickets are required. Hailed by the Chicago Tribune as "a glorious achievement," a recording of the Requiem released in 2010 by Maestro Muti, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Choruswon two Grammy Awards, including Best Classical Album and Best Choral Performance. Reviewing the recording, the publication Sound and Vision said, "[Muti's] profound sense of the score and his mastery of the CSO forces are fully evident. The orchestral playing is incomparable."
