Underscore Theatre Company is pleased to announce the full line-up for its third annual CHICAGO MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL, featuring 14 new musical productions. Created to showcase and support Chicago's burgeoning field of musical theatre creators, this year's festival will be held August 8 - 28, 2016 at Victory Gardens Richard Christiansen Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago. Each production will receive four performances during the Festival. The full schedule (Tuesdays - Sundays) can be found at www.cmtf.org, with single tickets and festival passes currently on-sale. The press preview, featuring songs from all of the 2016 productions, is Monday, August 8 at 7:30 pm.

National Alliance for Musical Theatre (Betsy King Militello, Executive Director) has announced the line-up of new musicals for their 28th Annual FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, which takes place on Thursday, October 27 and Friday, October 28, 2016 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues).

Shakespeare & Company will commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Bard during this 39th performance season with a newly configured theatre, and will debut its first production in-the-round with The Merchant of Venice, directed by Founder Tina Packer and featuring Jonathan Epstein as Shylock. This controversial and poignant play opens the Tina Packer Playhouse on July 1, and runs through August 21.

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, has unveiled full casting for Gilbert & Sullivan's THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, which will star previously announced Will Swenson as 'The Pirate King.'

The world premiere of Unexpected Joy, opening July 21 at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, will be directed by Lynne Taylor Corbett. Musical Direction is by Gillian Berkowitz. This world premiere by Bill Russell and Janet Hood is produced in association with Jim Kierstead, Linda & Craig Wielkotz, and Gabby Hanna & Marcy Feller. Casting is by Stephen DeAngelis. Unexpected Joy opens July 21, running Wednesdays-Mondays through August 20.

Crackle, Sony's free streaming service, today announced that Merritt Patterson ('The Royals,' 'Ravenswood') will join the season two cast of the critically-acclaimed original drama series, THE ART OF MORE.

Al Roker and wife Deborah Roberts came to a preview of the powerful new play, American Son at the Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield Ma. last night. The play is written by Christopher Demos-Brown and is directed by BSC founder/artistic director Julianne Boyd. It stars Tamara Tunie and Michael Hayden with Luke Smith and Andre' Ware. The world premiere of American Son will take place on June 22 on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage of Barrington Stage Co. It runs through July 9, 2016

This summer, for the first time in Repercussion Theatre's 28-year history, it is presenting William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, directed by Amanda Kellock, (Artistic Director), for its annual Shakespeare-in-the-Park (SITP) tour. Broadway In Boston announced today that tickets for the Tony, Grammy and Oliver Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, will go on sale to the public this Sunday, June 12, 2016.  JERSEY BOYS will perform a limited two week engagement at the Boston Opera House October 4-16, 2016 and is part of the 2016/2017 Lexus Broadway In Boston Season.
