CHESS Opens at the Arvada Center

The Arvada Center will open the regional premiere of a new restaging of Chess, A Musical directed by Rod A. Lansberry on March 27 running through April 15, 2012 in the Main Stage Theater. Performances are Tuesday - Saturday at 7:30 pm, Wednesday at 1pm, Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. Preview performances are March 23 - 25. Moderated talkbacks with the cast are offered on Friday, April 6 after 7:30 p.m. show and Wednesday, April 11 after 1:00 p.m. show. Ticket prices range from $35 (previews) - $72. I CAN'T WAIT: THE SONGS OF PATRICK DWYER, a new revue of songs by the theatre/cabaret songwriter, will be presented at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, 61 Christopher Street at 7th Avenue, on Saturday February 25 at 4:30pm and Monday February 27 at 7pm.
The hour-long show will feature the vocal talents of Teal Wicks, Robb Sapp and Tally Sessions.

Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theater company, has announced that its acclaimed production of Queen of the Mist, words and music by five-time Tony Award nominee Michael John LaChiusa, directed by four-time Drama Desk Award nominee Jack Cummings III, will be taped for the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Theatre on Film and Tape Archive on December 1.

Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company, has announced that the world premiere of Queen of the Mist, words and music by five-time Tony Award nominee Michael John LaChiusa, directed by four-time Drama Desk Award nominee Jack Cummings III, will play a two-week extension through Sunday, December 4 at The Gym at Judson Memorial Church, 243 Thompson Street at Washington Square South. The musical was originally scheduled to close Sunday, November 20.

Based on an astounding, outrageous, and haunting true story, two-time Tony nominee Mary Testa (Guys and Dolls, Xanadu, 42nd Street) stars as Anna Edson Taylor, who, in 1901, set out to be the first woman to shoot Niagara Falls, in a barrel of her own design.

Queen of the Mist begins performances Tuesday, October 18 at The Gym at Judson Memorial Church in anticipation of a November 6 opening. Queen of the Mist stars D.C. Anderson (The Phantom of the Opera, The Life Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby), Stanley Bahorek (See Rock City & Other Destinations, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Theresa McCarthy (Titanic, Floyd Collins), Julia Murney (Wicked, The Wild Party, First Lady Suite), Andrew Samonsky (South Pacific, Tales of the City), Tally Sessions (The House of Blue Leaves, Yank!), and Mary Testa (On The Town, Marie Chrtistine, Xanadu, 42nd Street). The production was created by Michael John LaChiusa and directed by Jack Cummings III and choreographed by Scott Rink.
