The 2010 - 2011 National Tour of SPRING AWAKENING is coming to Memphis on Saturday, November 13th. The 8-time Tony Award winning Broadway musical featuring, 'The most gorgeous Broadway score this decade,' (Entertainment Weekly) will play the Orpheum Theatre for one performance only, during this limited engagement.

On Tuesday, September 28, FELA! received Actors' Equity Association's Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs (ACCA) fourth annual ACCA Award for Outstanding Broadway Chorus. The award, the only industry award of its kind, honors the distinctive talents and contributions made by the original chorus members of a Broadway musical. The Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Harold Clurman Center for New York in Movement and Dance Theater will honor Alexandra Wells on Thursday, September 30th. The evening will feature performances by Sidra Bell Dance New York, Andrea Miller's Gallim Dance, Austin McCormick's Company XIV and more. Margie Gillis will present the MAD Spirit Award to Alexandra Wells. The event is a part of the Studio's Fifth Annual Harold Clurman Festival, which brings artists and activists together to discuss the relationship between art and social activism and which raises funds for the nonprofit.

At yesterday's annual meeting, Milwaukee Ballet endorsed the establishment of The Harmony Initiative, a new vision for Milwaukee's performing arts and education community, the germination of which came from the Ballet's strategic effort to create a defining and collaborative business approach.

New York City Center's seventh annual Fall for Dance Festival, running September 28 - October 9, will showcase 20 national and international companies and choreographers. With ticket prices remaining at $10 for all seats, a night of dance is more affordable than a night at the movies. The festival will include world and U.S. premieres, and will feature several companies making their first U.S. appearances.

Miami City Ballet has been selected to make its debut at the 2010 Fall for Dance Festival at New York's City Center September 28th and 29th, 2010. The company will perform Twyla Tharp's 'The Golden Section.' The festival, running September 28th - October 9th, 2010, will showcase 20 dance companies and choreographers from across the United States and around the world. Miami City Ballet is one of ten dance companies making their debut in the festival. 'We are thrilled to perform, as it builds on our ongoing successful relationship with New York City Center, where the company made its debut in 2009,' said Edward Villella, founding artistic director and CEO of Miami City Ballet.

Jacob's Pillow Dance announces the conclusion of an artistically and fiscally successful Festival, complete with record-breaking attendance numbers and increased ticketed income. Executive Director Ella Baff maintained her continued commitment to presenting work that challenges and excites audiences, presenting diverse dance artists, world premieres, U.S. debuts, live music, and exclusive programs from around the globe. Fifty-three dance companies and more than 400 dance artists from Australia, Canada, the Republic of Georgia, India, Israel, Thailand, Spain, Sweden, and across the United States participated in the 78th season. This year, Jacob's Pillow hosted more than 89,000 free and ticketed visitor experiences, the highest visitor experience numbers in Pillow history.

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center raises the curtain on an exciting, expanded 2010-11 season on September 22, 2010 when classical piano superstar Lang Lang returns to NJPAC's Prudential Hall stage, which has been dubbed one of his favorite places in the world to play, as a soloist on two works, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in c, Op. 37, and Liszt's virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major, with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, led by Jacques Lacombe in his second performance as the NJSO's new Music Director.

Little did composer/lyricist Jerry Herman know that when he wrote that lyric for LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, he was actually predicting his own future. The original production of LA CAGE opened to enormous critical acclaim in 1983 and is currently receiving its second revival on Broadway in The Menier Chocolate Factory's brilliantly scaled-down version. The second act showstopper in every version is 'The Best of Times' which inevitably has the audience singing along when it's performed during the final bows. It's also the song that seems to be going through Herman's head ever since August 13th when he learned he'd been named to receive one of this year's Kennedy Center Honors.

Multi-Grammy Award-winner and international recording superstar Patti LaBelle opened in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Fela! last night, September 14. LaBelle will perform in Fela! through its scheduled closing on January 2, 2011.

Attendance figures for the 2010 classical season at Saratoga Performing Arts Center presented by HSBC Bank, USA N.A. include a 21 percent rise in attendance and a 15 percent increase in ticket income for The Philadelphia Orchestra, reported Marcia J. White, SPAC's President & Executive Director.
