Independent Shakespeare Co. to Present STRANGE EVENTFUL HISTORY

Independent Shakespeare Co. (ISC), presenters of the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival and recipients of the 2015 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in theater, announce a new work, STRANGE EVENTFUL HISTORY, directed by Independent Shakespeare Co.'s Joseph Culliton. STRANGE EVENTFUL HISTORY will begin previews on Thursday, October 22, will open on Saturday, October 24 at 7:30pm and will perform through Sunday, November 22 at Independent Studio in the Atwater Crossing Arts + Innovation Complex, 3191 Casitas Ave., #168 in Atwater Village.

SU Drama's 2015/16 season features six productions, including three musicals, starting in October with the Cole Porter classic Kiss Me, Kate. Second in the season is Agamemnon, the haunting Greek classic, followed by a co-production with Syracuse Stage, Peter Pan. After winter break, the season continues with Punk Rock and the country-flavored musical The Spitfire Grill. Closing the season in May is the comedy A Flea in Her Ear.
Bank of America Children's Touring Production of NEW KID Hits the Road Today

The Bank of America Children's Tour, New Kid, hits the road today, September 17, to begin a run of performances at schools throughout the Central New York region. Over 9,000 students in 23 schools across a five county region will see the production running now through December 10.
AKEELAH AND THE BEE Stage Adaptation Coming to Arena Stage

Fresh off its world-premiere run in Minneapolis, where Star Tribune declared "Akeelah and the Bee triumphs," Children's Theatre Company's new production about an 11-year-old spelling prodigy comes to Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. The show is adapted for the stage by veteran playwright Cheryl L. West (Arena's Pullman Porter Blues, Jar the Floor), who partners with celebrated director Charles Randolph-Wright (director of Broadway's Motown and an inaugural resident playwright with Arena Stage, where he premiered his play Love in Afghanistan). Akeelah and the Bee runs November 13-December 27, 2015 in the Kreeger Theater.

The Timeline Projects presents the world premiere of Victor Lesniewski's (Khardal, Berkeley Rep; Cloven Tongues, The Wild Project) Civil War spy thriller, Couriers and Contrabands, developed with and directed by Kareem Fahmy (The In-Between, Noor Theatre; Asst. Director Once, New York Theatre Workshop). Couriers and Contrabands will play a four week limited engagement at the TBG Theatre (312 W 36th Street, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10018). Performances began Saturday, September 5th and continue through Saturday, September 26th, 2015. Opening Night is tonight, September 11th at 8:00 pm.
