As the 2012 presidential election season begins, Symphony Space, host of the popular comedy and literary events Uptown Showdown and Selected Shorts, welcomes back its popular political cabaret, The Thalia Follies, for its seventh season with its newest production, Race for the White House.

Keigwin + Company (K+C) returns to The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue, NYC, for its annual weeklong season including the World Premieres of two new dances on June 12- 17, 2012. Performances: Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30pm; Thursday through Saturday at 8pm; Sunday at 2pm & 7:30pm. Tickets are $10-$49 and can be purchased at JoyceCharge at 212-242-0800 or joyce.org. The Institute and Victory Gardens announce a special three-night only performance featuring Jomama Jones in an intimate concert version of her sold out, smash hit Radiate straight from New York. Jomama Jones: *RADIATE! will be at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Park on April 19, 20 & 21, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre will present their newest edition on Thursday, April 19 at 9:30 PM.

Tonight, April 16, 2012, Symphony Space presents its third annual Access to the Arts Awards to Morley Safer for his arts reportage on CBS' 60 Minutes, international corporate lawyer Alain Coblence for his support of the arts and programs that encourage international cultural exchange, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for their generous ongoing support of our Selected Shorts series.

America's foremost Gilbert & Sullivan repertory ensemble, the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players (NYGASP), will conclude its 37th anniversary season with "Iolanthe" on Saturday, May 19th (3PM) at Peter Norton Symphony Space (2535 Broadway at 95th Street). This is a one weekend only event -- three performances only -- Saturday, May 19th (3PM & 8PM) & Sunday, May 20th (3PM).

Martha Plimpton joins the cast of Selected Shorts: La Vie Bohème/Boho Brooklyn on Wed, Apr 11 at 7pm. Martha Plimpton (Raising Hope) reads from Jersey girl Sylvia Beach's memoir about opening Shakespeare & Company bookstore in Paris in 1919, at Symphony Space's April 11 Selected Shorts. The evening is devoted to literary life in Paris in the 1920s-40s and in Brooklyn today.

The American Tap Dance Foundation have announced that Tommy Tune will host their Spring Gala 2012 at the Peter Norton Symphony Space, Leonard Nimoy Thalia, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street, on Tuesday, April 24th at 6:30 pm.

Symphony Space's Gertrude Stein's Paris, a month-long, multi-disciplinary festival devoted to the vibrant cultural milieu of Gertrude Stein's Paris, continues on Friday, April 27 with two fully staged productions devoted to the inspiration Stein's work had on vocal and operatic repertoire. Encompass New Opera Theatre will present two one-act operas based on texts by Stein, Virgil Thomson's Capital Capitals and Ned Rorem's Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters.

Symphony Space's Gertrude Stein's Paris, a month-long, multi-disciplinary festival devoted to the vibrant cultural milieu of Gertrude Stein's Paris, continues on Friday, April 27 with two fully staged productions devoted to the inspiration Stein's work had on vocal and operatic repertoire. Encompass New Opera Theatre will present two one-act operas based on texts by Stein, Virgil Thomson's Capital Capitals and Ned Rorem's Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters. Directed by Nancy Rhodes, this salute to Stein's work through American opera is a fresh examination of the influence Stein has had throughout the arts.
