ChoralFest USA Set for 6/14 at Symphony Space

The inaugural ChoralFest USA - A Celebration of American Choral Music, will be presented on Sunday, June 14 from 3 PM to 9 PM at Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street in Manhattan.

Original ensemble members, Michael Winther, Kimberly Grigsby, Shane Shanahan are joined by cellist, Peter Sachon as they reunite with Pulitzer prize-winning lyricist, Mark Campbell and many of the composers for a special one-night-only concert event, celebrating the ten year anniversary of Songs from an Unmade Bed, the critically acclaimed, theatrical song cycle originally produced off-Broadway by New York Theatre Workshop in 2005.

Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW just presented the 1912 one-act comedy OVERRULED, last night at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2895 Broadway at 95th St.). Overruled starred Robert Cuccioli (Mr. Lunn), Heidi Armbruster(Mrs. Lunn), Alison Cimmet (Mrs. Juno), Dan Butler (Mr. Juno), in which two couples are determined to find romance...but not with each other. GTG's Founding Artistic Director David Staller directs.

St Urban Presents World Premiere at SubCulture Tonight

St Urban, an intimate and innovative chamber music series, will premiere the second in its series of commissioned works tonight, May 9th at 7:30pm at SubCulture. This year's concert features 'Songs for Days To Come,' a piece composed by Kinan Azmeh and set to texts by Syrian poets living in exile.

Acclaimed Off-Broadway theater company Playwrights Horizons held its annual Spring Gala yesterday, May 4 at the event space 583 Park Avenue. Titled CELEBRATING PETER JAY SHARP'S NEW YORK, the evening honored the late philanthropist, hotelier and real estate developer Peter Jay Sharp and The Peter Jay Sharp Foundation (Foundation Directors: the late Mr. Sharp, Edmund Duffy, Dan Lufkin, the late Jack Nash and Norman Peck). Among several theaters in New York City, Playwrights Horizons' more intimate 128-seat theater was named after the late philanthropist. BWW Reviews: Christopher Wheeldon Speaks with Rita Moreno

On April 27th, Words On Dance and Symphony Space presented Ballet to Broadway: Christopher Wheeldon with Rita Moreno, at the Peter J. Sharp Theater, just two weeks after the opening of Wheeldon's An American in Paris, on Broadway. The evening consisted of film clips interspersed with conversation. Oddly, it was the films we saw 1st, followed by words. It was Moreno who was to interview Wheeldon, although he occasionally turned the tables and asked questions of Moreno.
