Leslie Darcy and Nick Pascarella to star in The Typists at Bergen County Playhouse

With Lookingglass Theatre Company being the fourth Chicago theater to produce a Frankenstein adaptation over the past year in celebration of the novel's 200th anniversary, audiences may well ask what more can be said about this classic tale. Rest assured: in MARY SHELLEY'S FRANKENSTEIN, writer and director David Catlin offers a unique and poignant perspective by placing the author herself, a highly imaginative and emotionally vulnerable teenager, center stage. Artist and artwork become intricately entwined as Mary Shelley (Cordelia Dewdney) pours her personal pain into a work of fiction that has captivated readers for centuries.

The Stratford Festival celebrated a crowning moment at the new Tom Patterson Theatre Centre on Wednesday. THE GOAT OR, WHO IS SYLVIA? Is a quick paced juxtaposition of humor within rage, anger, and conflict all wrapped up in the trappings of civility. It forces us to look between the blurred lines between love / sex / emotions; connections / physical / emotional; normative behavior - the "supposed to" / perversion. It suggests that we move beyond simply "getting by" and focus on "what really matters"

Bergen County Players, one of America's longest-running little theater companies, will conclude its successful 86th season with a limited engagement of Muray Shisgal's one-act comedy drama The Typists. Under the direction of Jerry Pettinati, The Typists will run June 8th and June 9th at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell. Show times will be Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm. The National Puerto Rican Day Parade (NPRDP) Board of Directors announced additional themes and tributes that will make up its 2019 celebration.  Under the theme, "One People, Many Voices," the Parade will continue celebrating the best of Puerto Rican culture and history, paying tribute to key historical figures and raising awareness on issues of importance in the community.  The Parade also announced several distinguished Puerto Ricans that will round out its roster of honorees to march up Fifth Avenue on June 9.  

In addition to theatre, dance, music, and its student matinee series, Alberta Bair Theater is presenting National Geographic Live! speakers while the theater undergoes its $12.5 million expansion and renovation during the 2019-2020 season.

Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre, in residence at CCBC Essex, will perform Sylvia by American playwright and novelist A. R. Gurney, June 15 through June 30. All performances will be held at the Robert and Eleanor Romadka College Center, Cabaret Theatre at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard.

 Next up at the Kitchen Theatre Company is Tribes by Nina Raine, an atypical family drama that examines the power of communication within the dynamics of a British hearing family with a deaf son. Performances of Tribes begin at the Kitchen Theatre Company in the Percy Browning Performance Space on June 2nd and run through June 23rd. Opening night is Thursday, June 6th.

Conor Hanney, Lee Huff, and Angela Todaro will bring their world premiere musical Stranger Things 2: The Musical Tribute to the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival in June. There will be five performances only at the Broadwater Black Box Saturday 6/8 at 4pm; Friday 6/14 at 8pm; Saturday 6/15 at 11pm; Saturday 6/22 at 3pm; and Friday 6/28 at 7pm. Running time will be 85 minutes.
