Trisha Brown Retrospective Dances Into UW World Series This Weekend

Washington State native Trisha Brown is considered the most widely acclaimed choreographer of the postmodern era. For over 50 years, she pushed the limits of choreographic movement, changing modern dance forever. At 79, Trisha Brown has choreographed her last dances. In celebration of her life's work, Trisha Brown Dance Company returns to the choreographer's home state to perform the final performances of her works for the proscenium stage as part of a retrospective presented by University of Washington's World Series at Meany Hall.

Bryn Mawr Performing Arts Series presents a year-long celebration of Trisha Brown, an internationally-known leader of post-modernism and enduring renegade whose work has rarely been seen in Philadelphia. Trisha Brown: In the New Body showcases Brown's iconic choreography, and her influence and innovative ideas on movement and art.  Named In the New Body because of Brown's influential reimagining of the body's relationship to gravity and momentum, this festival presented in partnership with the Barnes Foundation, Pennsylvania Ballet and several area universities will celebrate the major phases of Brown's work through free and ticketed performances and illuminating classes, workshops and talks with the artists and scholars who know her work best.

Orchestra of St. Luke's Hosts 40th Anniversary Gala

Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) raised $800,000 at its 40th Anniversary Gift of Music gala, held at The Plaza Hotel on April 20th. Rose and Joan Stein, is a play featuring a culturally and gender diverse series of candid monologues on the subject of motherhood, written by a host of celebrated writers. Motherhood Out Loud traverses the experience of motherhood from inception, birth, sexuality, growing up, letting go and the sandwich generation. The show has had successful productions all over the country, including an off-Broadway run at Primary Stages in New York City.
