Nicki Bluhm Announces New Album + Tour Dates

Compass Records is excited to announce the release of renowned singer/songwriter Nicki Bluhm's new album, TO RISE YOU GOTTA FALL, out June 1. To celebrate the announcement, Rolling Stone premiered the title track yesterday, hailing the song as 'a blast of Memphis soul.' TO RISE YOU GOTTA FALL was recorded in Memphis at the legendary Sam Phillips Recording studio and features two co-writes with Ryan Adams and a Dan Penn cover. For these live band analog sessions, Bluhm brought in producer Matt Ross-Spang (Margo Price, Jason Isbell), and the studio band included Will Sexton (guitar), Ross-Spang (guitars), Ken Coomer (drums and percussion), Al Gamble (Hammond B3), Rick Steff (piano) and Dave Smith (bass), with Reba Russell and Susan Marshall (background singers), Sam Shoup (string arrangements) and various special guests. 'To Rise You Gotta Fall' is available to listen on all streaming platforms here.

Jacob's Pillow Announces The 2018 Jacob's Pillow Dance Award Recipient

Faye Driscoll, hailed as “a postmillenium postmodern wild woman” (Deborah Jowitt, The Village Voice) for her work that is a “tour de force of performance and direction” (Brian Seibert, The New York Times), receives the 12th Annual Jacob's Pillow Dance Award. The Bessie Award-winning choreographer, director, and alumnus of The School at Jacob's Pillow joins a group of honorees that includes Annie-B Parson and Paul Lazar of Big Dance Theater, Kyle Abraham of Abraham.in.Motion, Michelle Dorrance of Dorrance Dance, Camille A. Brown of Camille A. Brown & Dancers, and Liz Lerman of Dance Exchange. The Award will be formally presented as part of the Jacob's Pillow Season Opening Gala on June 16, 2018 followed by the presentation of Driscoll's work at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival for the second consecutive summer, August 1–5.

Marking the debut solo record of “envelope-shredding” trumpeter/composer Stephanie Richards, Fullmoon is years of shaping, culminating in a mesmerizing work of refined electric insanity. With Fullmoon, Richards is unplugged, acoustically manipulating her horn against resonating surfaces, appearing to sound processed, only to be live-sampled by electronic pioneer Dino J.A. Deane. Unbridled and succinct, Fullmoon is a sonic exploration of supernatural pulses and groove.

Jacob's Pillow Announces Recipient of New Annual Fellowship In Partnership With Tilles Center

Ephrat "Bounce" Asherie, Artistic Director of Ephrat Asherie Dance, is awarded the inaugural Jacob's Pillow Fellowship at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at LIU Post. The fellowship includes a $15,000 grant, a one-week residency at Jacob's Pillow's new Pillow Lab, and a residency at LIU Tilles Center. Executive Vice Chairman Roger Tilles was integral in making this new partnership between Jacob's Pillow and Long Island University possible.
