The Lortel Awards will be presented tonight, May 7, 2017 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00 PM EST. This year's event will be hosted by actor and comedian, Taran Killam, and will once again serve as a benefit for The Actors Fund.

This year's Tony Awards nominations have just been announced by Jane Krakowski and Christopher Jackson and here they are, celebrating the best of the 2016-17 theatre season (and what a season it's been!) Earlier this morning, Laura Benanti (She Loves Me, Gypsy) and Javier Muñoz (Hamilton, In the Heights) announced the nominations for the 62nd Annual Drama Desk Awards.

The Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway, will welcome Danny Burstein and Jane Krakowski to announce the nominees for the 2016-17 season on Tuesday, April 25th (11AM) in the Oak Room at New York's renowned Algonquin Hotel (59 West 44th Street). Ever since the New Israeli Opera was created in 1985 there's usually been one guest international production in each of its seasons. This year the Royal Opera of Wallonie from Liege, Belgium, brought its fun production to Tel Aviv, Gioacchino Rossini's opera buffa La Gazzetta (The Magazine) which is presented for the first time in Israel, over 200 years after it was written.

The story has been told before, but never like this. An occupied desert nation. A radical from the wilderness on hunger strike. A girl whose mysterious dance will change the course of the world. This charged retelling turns the infamous biblical tale on its head, placing the girl we call Salome at the centre of a revolution.

Present Laughter, starring Academy Award and two-time Tony Award winner Kevin Kline in his triumphant return to Broadway, opens tonight at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). Directed by Tony Award nominee Moritz von Stuelpnagel.

The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 19 categories for the 32nd Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway.

Lincoln Center Theater's production of How to Transcend a Happy Marriage opened last night at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65th Street). At a dinner party in the wilds of New Jersey, two married couples discuss a younger acquaintance - a polyamorous woman who also hunts her own meat. Fascinated, they invite this mysterious woman and her two live-in boyfriends to a New Year's Eve party, which alters the course of their lives.

The latest musical playing at Syracuse's historical Landmark Theatre is none other than the three time Tony Award-winning musical Wicked. The successful Broadway blockbuster with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman has everything - an amazing cast, spectacular sets, gorgeous costumes, and, of course, those famous Witches of Oz.

A friendly reminder! Present Laughter begins tonight, March 10th, 2017, at Broadway's St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street), ahead of a Wednesday, April 5th Opening Night, for a strictly limited 16-week engagement. 

Producer Jordan Roth announced today details for the digital lottery for the highly-anticipated revival of Noel Coward's Present Laughter which begins performances on Broadway this coming Friday, March 10 for a limited 16-week run. A limited quantity of $42 lottery tickets to each performance will be available through online entry at http://laughteronbroadway.com/lottery. Lottery winners will be notified by text message and email by noon the day prior to the performance. Purchase must be completed online by credit card only, with one entry per person (no age restrictions) and up to 2 tickets per winner. There is no day-of rush ticket availability during previews.

Online theater streaming service BroadwayHD will live stream The Public Theater's 'THE GABRIELS: Election Year in the Life of One Family,' written and directed by Richard Nelson. The critically acclaimed three-play cycle is currently touring internationally and will return to The Public Theater on March 22-24 for a special live stream mini-series.

The much-anticipated return of WICKED did not fail to generate the buzz and crowd it was expected to. The throng that trooped to The Theatre at Solaire on February 8 was proof that this hit Broadway musical indeed has a Manila cult following, some of whom wickedly garbed in celebratory costumes, most flamboyant of which was Tessa Prieto-Valdes, a regular on big musical opening nights.

Wicked fans are mounting their bubbles and brooms and navigating the yellow brick road to The Emerald City, (Straz Center, Tampa), to defy gravity with Elphaba and company. For most, this is a yearly pilgrimage to pay homage to their misunderstood heroine. For a very few, it's a first glance at the visually stunning Broadway spectacular.

Coming directly from a multi record-breaking tour of the UK and Ireland, Stephen Schwartz' WICKED plays in Manila for the second time as part of a major international tour. Gala night was held last Wednesday, February 8, 2017.
