Subscription sales have begun for the Santa Barbara Symphony's 2016-17 season, which will open in thrilling fashion October 15 with a performance of Beethoven's jubilant and inspiring Symphony No. 9 featuring several local choruses and popular soloists at the Granada Theatre. Island Theatre's annual Ten-Minute Play Festival presents sixteen works by local playwrights over two evenings, August 23 and 24 at Bainbridge Performing Arts. Eight plays will be performed on Saturday evening, and the other eight will be performed on Sunday evening. Festival goers will be invited to vote for an audience choice award for each night. In addition, an overall festival favorite, determined by the judges, will be awarded a cash prize at the end of the festival on Sunday night.
