ABC News' '20/20' Features New Footage of Trial and Last Week's Sentencing Hearing of Doctor Sentenced to Life in Prison, Today

What caused a doctor and veterinarian couple to hire a hit man to kill their exes? today night, “20/20” investigates this double murder-for-hire plot and the elaborate sting operation authorities say they set up to catch Houston-area veterinarian, Valerie McDaniel, and her boyfriend, Leon Jacob, before it was too late. Just last week, Leon was convicted and sentenced to life for two counts of solicitation of capital murder. “20/20” features footage from the trial and sentencing hearing, including Leon's testimony and impact statements from Leon's targeted ex-girlfriend and allegedly abused ex-wife. The hour also features an interview with Leon from jail, pre-trial, who tells correspondent Matt Gutman he did nothing wrong. “20/20” airs on today, March 30 (10:01–11:00 p.m. EDT). on ABC.

Blue Note Hawaii welcomes some of music's most renowned artists this month, kicking off with the 60th birthday celebration of Loretta Ables Sayre with special guest star Robert Cazimero. The Hawaii News Now Jazz Legends series continues with Freddy Cole, one of the most influential jazz singers in history and the younger brother of musical icon Nat “King” Cole. Local favorite and the 2017 GRAMMY® Award winner from Hawaii Kalani Pe'a is up next, followed by genre-bending blues and bluegrass artists Dirty Cello. Blayne Asing & Alx Kawakami join forces for two nights and innovative African artist Vieux Farka Touré has his Blue Note Hawaii debut. Streetlight Cadence returns home to Hawaii for two nights, followed by artist in residence, Robert Cazimero. Next up is a round of local talent with shows by Keauhou, Josh Tatofi and Makana, which is a fundraiser for the Willie K Cancer Fund. Mike Lewis continues his series of tribute shows paying homage to Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, the music of Roberta Flack, as well as presenting a Big Band Extravaganza, featuring some of the area's most talented high school and collegiate level jazz bands. Josh Kaye and Friends will celebrate the music of Stax Records, which launched the careers of Issac Hayes, Wilson Picket, Otis Redding, Sam & Dave and many more. Gypsy 808 will present the music of Django Reinhardt and the month ends with a bang when HIROSHIMA returns to the Blue Note stage.

Maureen McGovern is celebrating the 45th Anniversary of her theme song, "The Morning After," which won the Oscar for Best Song of the Year in 1973, and became an international Gold Record and garnered her a Grammy Nomination for Best New Artist.  Along with musical director/pianist Jeff Harris, Ms. McGovern will perform some of her most beloved hits, including "Can You Read My Mind?," "We May Never Love Like This Again," and of course, "The Morning After," along with many other Oscar-winning and classic film songs.

For the first time since his announcement of a cancer diagnosis, the incomparable Willie K is set to return to the stage at Blue Note Hawaii on March 27. One of the artists who holds a residency, Willie K regularly plays to sold out houses at the famed jazz club located at the Outrigger Waikiki. He will be unable to perform at his previously scheduled date of April 24 when slack key virtuoso Makana will perform in a benefit concert, with Blue Note Hawaii donating 100% of its ticket proceeds to the Willie K Cancer Fund.

Pacific Symphony Makes Carnegie Hall Debut In Philip Glass Program

Pacific Symphony, led by Music Director Carl St.Clair, makes its Carnegie Hall debut in the concluding program of the venue's season-long celebration of the music of Philip Glass. The program explores the influence of Ravi Shankar and Indian aesthetics on Mr. Glass and features the New York premiere of his The Passion of Ramakrishna, a Pacific Symphony co-commission for chorus, soloists, and orchestra that was given its world premiere by Pacific Symphony in 2006. The Pacific Chorale, which sang in the world premiere, will join Pacific Symphony for the performance at Carnegie Hall. The program also includes "Meetings Along the Edge" from Glass/Shankar collaboration Passages and Shankar's Third Sitar Concerto, featuring the composer's daughter Anoushka Shankar as soloist. Philip Glass is Carnegie Hall's 2017-2018 Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair.
