Shepley Metcalf Comes to the Metropolitan Room Tonight

Vocalist Shepley Metcalf, critically lauded by the Boston Globe as a 'superb cabaret/jazz singer,' is celebrating the release of her third recording, 'Don't Bother to Knock,' with a series of shows on the east coast this Fall. New Yorkers can catch Metcalf at the Metropolitan Room for one show tonight, November 1st at 7pm, singing music from the CD along with some other lesser-known gems from the Great American Songbook. The Irish Repertory Theatre begins the ninth season of its Reading Series with Janet Noble's LOUISE BROOKS: FOR THE HELL OF IT. The staged reading will be held today, October 30 at 3pm at the DR2 Theater, 103 East 15th Street, the Irish Repertory Theatre's temporary home during its current renovation. Tickets are free, and the event is open to the public. An RSVP to 212-727-2737 is suggested.

Bravo Renews BELOW DECK for Third Season

Fueled by ratings success, Bravo Media has renewed 'Below Deck' for a third season as last night's finale earned the highest-rated episode of the season among all key demos. With over 1.4 million total viewers and 710,000 P18-49, the episode was up 26 percent and 23 percent, respectively, from the prior week (10/14/14), according to Nielsen. On a most current basis, season two is averaging 1.5 million total viewers and 808,000 P18-49.

Sundance Institute Sets Projects, Artists for Fall Theatre Labs

Sundance Institute today announced the projects and artists that will participate in its two Fall artist development programs: the inaugural Playwrights Studio at Flying Point in Water Mill, NY (October 19-26), as well as the two-week Theatre Lab (November 30 - December 14) for musical theatre, ensemble-generated projects and solo work at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA). Under the supervision of Artistic Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the initiatives are among the Theatre Program's five annual Labs and Residencies for theatre artists and part of the 24 artist residency labs across many creative disciplines Sundance Institute offers annually.

At an outdoor cafe, a man is accosted by a balding stranger who wants something and 'wasn't sent here to negotiate.' His victim runs away but is almost hit by a car; meanwhile, the stranger comes over and injects him. The guy wakes up being rushed into surgery - but 'Mr. Wyatt' is then found in a pile of garbage with a missing heart. It's all the work of Dr. James Covington, #89 on THE BLACKLIST.

Utah Shakespeare Marks 'Hunger Action Month' With SINGING FOR SUPPER Benefit Tonight

On account of September being Hunger Action Month, Utah Shakespeare Festival actors, musicians and company members will be hosting a special, one-night only benefit concert with all proceeds being donated to the local food pantry, the Iron County Care and Share. Singing for Supper will take place tonight, October 2, 2014 at 10:30 p.m. at the Iron Gate Inn. Suggested donation at the door is $10 or $7 with six canned food items. The Iron Gate Inn is located at 100 North 200 West in Cedar City.

Christine Ebersole, Annie Golden, Ann Harada & More Set for SUNDANCE...SINGS! at Symphony Space Tonight

Tonight, September 29 (8 pm), Symphony Space will present Sundance...Sings!, spotlighting songs from groundbreaking shows developed with support from the Sundance Institute Theatre Program, sung by a stellar cast. Back in 2008, when I moved from my small New York City apartment to my 3 bedroom house on a half-acre in Norwalk, CT, I was both 'excited AND scared', to quote Little Red from Into the Woods. I was excited for the change, for the possibilities, and for the extra space, yet scared for the unknown, the new responsibilities, and the financial undertaking. I'm sure 'excited AND scared' sums up the feelings held by Kevin Connors and Jim Schilling when faced with their latest venture - moving Music Theatre of Connecticut from its quaint and cozy home in the basement of a Westport strip mall to the spacious and state-of-the-art surroundings at the Company's new location at 509 Westport Avenue in Norwalk, CT. However, 'excited' might be the dominant emotion.
