Review: SKELETON CREW Asks When is Doing Just Enough Really Good Enough?

Directed by Patricia McGregor at the Geffen Playhouse, this emotionally-charged play looks deep into the hearts and souls of its four characters, with all four actors brilliantly commanding the stage from start to finish. Caroline Stefanie Clay portrays Faye, the factor's UAW union rep who finds herself caught between a rock and a hard place when her supervisor Reggie (DB Woodside) informs her privately that the factory will soon be closing, throwing everyone out of work. Asking her to keep the information confidential to insure his own employment to the end, puts Faye, his mother's former lover who first got him a job at the factory, in a difficult position with her co-workers.

LA-Based Musician's Network Jammcard Expands to Atlanta

Jammcard, Los Angeles' growing community ultimately known as the Music Professionals Network, today announce their expansion to Atlanta, Georgia, launching on June 25. Jammcard, founded by Elmo Lovano, connects the community by way of localized event gatherings and a private online social network base. Lovano is a well-known drummer and musical director who has worked with Juliette Lewis, Skrillex, James Fauntleroy, Miley Cyrus and Christina Perri.

Held in Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park and beyond from July 24 - August 12, Out of Doors is one of the country's longest-running summer outdoor festivals, offering free music, dance, spoken word and family events to all.

Hill-Freedman World Academy Releases Original Album WHAT'S GOING ON Collection Of Original Student Songs

On Thursday, June 7, Hill-Freedman World Academy (HFWA), a public high school in the School District of Philadelphia, will release the original album WHAT'S GOING ON, the second offering from the school's Hill-Freedman Records label. The label, and the album, are part of Hill-Freedman's IB Design/Music Technology curriculum. The album will be released at a ceremony at 9:30 AMin the school auditorium at 1100 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Philadelphia.

Lee Daniels in Talks to Direct Billie Holiday Biopic

According to Variety, Lee Daniels is in talks to direct the Billie Holiday biopic “Billie.” Sources also add that R&B singer Andra Day is the top choice for the title role and Lakeith Stanfield for the male role, though nothing is yet finalized.

Park City Institute Adds Sam Palladio To Its Labor Day Weekend Show NASHVILLE CAFE

Park City Institute announced the addition of singer and musician Sam Palladio, to the 2018 St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Concert Series' Labor Day weekend show, Nashville Cafe. Palladio completes a lineup with his co-stars from the CMT hit series, "Nashville," Chris Carmack and Chip Esten. The performance will be held at Quinn's Junction Sports Complex Fields. The evening will include a mix of solo and collaborative sets.

Virginia's Signature Theatre opens its air-conditioned doors once again for the annual Sizzlin' Summer Nights Series. Two and a half weeks of live music and performances by Signature favorites and DC area stars. The cabaret series runs July 19 through August 4, with a different performance every night.

Folk Singer-Songwriter Chantitown Shares New Single “Cause And The Cure”

British singer-songwriter and producer Chantitown shares 'Cause and the Cure', the first single to be taken from her upcoming debut EP of the same title, released independently on the 13th July. The EP was co-produced and co-composed with Jim Huswuit (Universal Music, National Theatre, Almeida Theatre) who also holds credit as People's Music Award Film and Music Composer. 'Cause and the Cure' was mixed and mastered by reputable engineer Chris Coulter, who has worked with well-respected artists such as Dan Austin (Ocean Size, Pixies), Scott Harding (Wu Tang Clan, New Kingdom), Pip Williams (Status Quo), Rupert Christie (U2 / Green Day) and more. The single also includes notable percussionist Paul Clarvis who has worked with musical greats such as Mick Jagger, Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder and Sir Paul McCartney, to name but a few.

The Recording Academy Prepares for Future Leadership Transition

 The Recording Academy announced today that President/CEO Neil Portnow will begin preparing for a leadership transition after choosing not to seek an extension on his current contract, which expires in July 2019. Portnow shared his plans at the Recording Academy's semi-annual Board of Trustees meeting last week. Throughout the next year, Portnow will work with the Board to chart out an organizational succession and transition plan, while continuing his current work as active President/CEO of the Recording Academy and MusiCares®, and Chair of the Board of the GRAMMY Museum®.

Sara Evans to Receive the 2018 NABEF Service to America Leadership Award

Multi-platinum country music star Sara Evans will receive the 2018 Service to America Leadership Award from the NAB Education Foundation (NABEF). Evans will receive the award at NABEF's Celebration of Service to America Awards on June 12 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
