The world's premier Streisand impressionist Steven Bringberg has performed on national TV shows The Rosie O'Donnel Show, Sally Jessy Raphael and at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, London's Royal Albert Hall (with Elton John and George Michael), as well as touring regularly with symphonies with Oscar, Grammy and Tony Award- winning composer Marvin Hamlisch (who wrote the Streisand classic The Way We Were) will also be performing songs from Streisand's just released CD What Matters Most and other classics from her 50 year recording legacy.

The York Theatre Company present NEO7, a benefit concert celebrating New, Emerging, Outstanding musical theatre writers, last night Monday, May 16 at its home at the Theatre at Saint Peter's. 'NEO' (an acronym for 'New, Emerging, Outstanding') celebrates songwriters primed to pen the next generation of musicals. Since the first NEO concert 6 years ago -- recorded by England's JAY Records-- musical theatre fans and York supporters eagerly anticipate each incarnation. NEO7 included songs by the following new musical theatre writers: Will Aronson & Bill Nelson; Andre Catrini; Adam David Cohen & Patrick Gallagher; Jonathan Matthew Gilbert & John Andrew Tarbet; Tom Gualtieri & David Sisco; Richard Isen; Steven Jamail; Mark McDaniels & Donald Garverick; Mary Liz McNamara; Michael Mitnick; Jonathan Monro; Benjamin Velez; and Derrick Wang. Hosted by Christine Pedi, the 2011 MAC Awards will take place on Tuesday, Mat 10 and B.B. King Blues Club and Grill. The ceremony will honor Annie Ross for Lifetime Achievement and George Sanders with the MAC Board of Directors Award.

What makes a celebrity a legend? At the beginning of a career, it's talent, lots of drive and guts, great press and of course just a little bit of luck. Once on top, the celebrity must sustain over time the image that catapulted her to stardom. There's a mystique, a je ne sais quoi, that should keep the star out of reach, inaccessible. Barbra Streisand has managed to become an icon, so when a female impressionist attempts to reproduce the speech, the incredible singing voice and style, and every hand gesture and body movement - and the overall persona - that have all made la Streisand one-of-a-kind, it would seem next to impossible to ingest it all and give it back believably. Steven Brinberg is the major exception. He sings exactly like Streisand, speaks with her quiet, laid-back manner and sense of humor, and has the hand and body movements down to perfection. For an hour and a half, one is convinced that he is in the company of the legend. Simply Barbra puts Streisand in closer proximity to an audience than usual and we revel in her individual candor and quirky attitude thanks to the astounding artistry of Steven Brinberg.
