The most comprehensive collection of signature costumes from The Sound of Music will be going up for auction later this month. Profiles in History, run by Joe Maddalena, is thrilled to announce that these iconic costumes worn by Julie Andrews and the 'Von Trapp' children, will be on the auction block at their Hollywood auction on July 29th. The Sound of Music is the most successful movie musical in history which spawned some of the most beloved songs in the American songbook, including 'Edelweiss', 'Do-Re-Mi', 'Sixteen Going on 17', and 'My Favorite Things.'

If Betty Comden and Adolph Green were both born in Bombay, Singin' In The Rain might have wound up resembling The New Group's new musical, Bunty Berman Presents….  Not that Ayub Khan Din (book, music and lyrics) and Paul Bogaev's (music) Bollywood-set musical comedy is on the same level as that masterwork, but the spirit of silly 1950s MGM hijinks abounds throughout the evening.  It's got laughs, it's got tunes and it offers a fun, mindless time.
