Venice Biennale Board of Directors to Honor Art Institute's Susanne Ghez with Golden Lion for Services to the Arts

Lauren Blumenfeld to Star in RICH GIRL at The Old Globe; Full Cast Announced!

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the West Coast premiere of an exciting new American play, Rich Girl, by acclaimed playwright Victoria Stewart, continuing the Globe's 80th Anniversary festivities as part of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration. Rich Girl will be directed by James Vasquez (Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show), and will play May 23 - June 21, 2015, in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

Museo Reina Sofía to Showcase Masterpieces from Kunstmuseum Basel Collection, 3/18

This year, from March 18 to September 14, the Museo Reina Sofía is offering the public an unrepeatable opportunity to admire a major selection of modern and contemporary art, one part of which comes from the public collection of the Kunstmuseum Basel, and the other from two of the most important of the private collections also housed in the Swiss museum, the Rudolf Staechelin Collection and the Im Obersteg Collection. A total of 168 works will be on view, of which only 12 have been exhibited in Spain before

Ridgefield Playhouse to Host Le Mans Film Event, 5/28

The second film in the new Lime Rock Drivers Club Film Series is Le Mans, which will be in screened in HD at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Steve McQueen stars in this gearhead 1971 classic which almost has the breadth and depth of a documentary and depicts an auto race on the world's hardest endurance course in Le Mans, France. The race goes over 24 hours on 14.5 kilometers of cordoned country road. Every few hours, the two drivers per car alternate - but it's still a challenge for concentration and material. The duel between the German Stahler in Ferrari 512LM and the American Delaney in Gulf Team Porsche 917 is the film's focus. Delaney is under extraordinary pressure, because the year before, he caused a severe accident, in which his friend Lisa's husband was killed. This event is sponsored by Jeff McAllister, No. 109 Cheese & Wine and Caffeine and Carburetors is part of The Lime Rock Drivers Club Film Series; running time is 106 minutes.

Content Media Acquires International Sales Rights to Alex Winter's Documentary “Deep Web”; Promo to Screen in Berlin

The much anticipated documentary “Deep Web,”which chronicles the October 2013 arrest of Ross William Ulbricht, the 30-year-old entrepreneur alleged to be “Dread Pirate Roberts” — founder of Silk Road, the notorious online black market best known for drug trafficking and the trade of all illegal goods and services, will screen first footage in Berlin as Content Media announced today that it has acquired international sales rights to the film.

Jessye Norman to Perform at Carnegie Hall with Pianist Mark Markham on Valentine's Day

Grammy-Award winning soprano Jessye Normanreturns to Carnegie Hall on Saturday, February 14 at 8:00 p.m. with pianist Mark Markham for a special Valentine's Day program entitled Hooray for Love! The concert features classics from musical theater and the Great American Songbook including selections by Harold Arlen, Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hart, and Duke Ellington, plus songs by Satie, Weill, Poulenc, Bizet, and others. This performance marks Miss Norman's first solo recital in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage since May 2008.
