Just yesterday, the Tony Awards toasted this year's creative arts nominees- the many designers, directors, and choreographers who made this theatre season sparkle. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you photos from inside the special event!

Broadway's scamming, scheming, double-crossing musical hit Dirty Rotten Scoundrels cons its way onto the Carpenter Center Stage via Musical Theatre West (MTW) for 13 performances July 8-24.  The production stars Broadway veterans Davis Gaines (Phantom of the Opera, Camelot) and Benjamin Schrader (Book of Mormon, Avenue Q) , and Ovation Award nominee (for MTW's Young Frankenstein) Rebecca Ann Johnson.  From the composer/lyricist David Yazbek (The Full Monty) and a book by Jeffrey Lane, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is based on the Steve Martin and Michael Caine film, written by Dale Launer and Stanley Shapiro & Paul Henning.  Brilliantly crafted with wit, double-entendres , and show-stopping numbers, the Broadway  show earned 11 Tony Award nominations, including "Best Musical," "Best Book," and "Best Score" and the Drama League Award for "Best Musical."  Tickets are available at www.musical.org or by calling (562) 856-1999, ext. 4.  Tickets are $20 and up.

Last night, Broadway alum Alisan Porter was crowned champion of NBC's Emmy Award-winning musical competition series THE VOICE, earning the grand prize of a recording contract and being named as the Voice for season 10.

Broadway's shining at the moment with Steve Martin and Edie Brickell's new musical BRIGHT STAR, featuring Tony nominee Carmen Cusack, currently playing at the Cort Theatre. In celebration of the show's run - not to mention five Tony nods - Martin and Cusack stopped by CBS THIS MORNING today, where they opened up about the process of bringing the musical to the Great White Way. The Drama League (Executive Artistic Director, Gabriel Shelian-Shanks) gathers today for the 82nd Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony, hosted by 2016 Tony® Award-nominees, Zachary Levi (She Loves Me) and Megan Hilty (Noises Off), in the Broadway Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway). 

A great week of general auditions and callbacks for the 2016-17 season with 60+ talented individuals attending the two-night and three days of callbacks seeking to fill roles for all four ART/WNY productions. Maura Nolan, director for Halley Fieffer's HOW TO MAKE FRIENDS AND THEN KILL THEM, Jeffrey Coyle, director for Steve Martin's THE UNDERPANTS, Matthew LaChiusa, director for A BEHANDING IN SPOKANE and alongside Billy Horn, musical director for AMERICAN IDIOT, had the difficult decision to chose from all those who attended. Once the dust settled, two of the four shows have been fully cast with the other two in the process of finalizing cast lists.

Indeed the talented cast is the highlight at the North Fork Community Theatre's adorable incarnation of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, the David Yazbek/Jeffrey Lane musical based on the Steve Martin/Michael Caine blockbuster movie. The comedic timing, witty quips, and a hilarious, unsuspecting story truly make this a laugh-out-loud event. Running through May 29th at the Mattituck, Long Island, venue, the terrific cast is excellently directed by Laura Pearsall.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts has announced the July, August, and September lineup for the 2016 Comedy Club. Monday nights at 8 pm.
