Previews began yesterday for the world premiere of I HATE MUSICALS: THE MUSICAL and audiences loved it! Simpsons' television writer and producer Mike Reiss has created a modern day Scrooge story of a cranky comedy writer trapped in the rubble of an LA earthquake. His life plays out before his eyes in the form of a musical -- and he hates musicals! With numbers sung by everyone from Sigmund Freud and Satan, will he learn to be less cranky? The play opens on September 29th and runs through October 15th. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

What do you get when you cross Mad Libs with Clue, add a group of theatre vets, and sprinkle in a dash of philanthropy? Why, it must be VILLAIN: DEBLANKS! The comedy event, held at Feinstein's/54 Below, served as a benefit for the ACLU, with Billy Mitchell, who wrote the skeleton script for the show, serving as the night's emcee.

297965After a sold out performance in March, Villain: DeBlanks revisited Feinstein's/54 Below with an encore benefit to support the ACLU. Starring Bebe Neuwirth, Tony Sheldon, Brenda Braxton, Stephen Wallem, Dale Soules and Ben Rimalower, the event on May 31 was full of hijnks and shenanigans -- supporting a great cause.

After a sold-out benefit performance in March, audience-favorite 'Villain: DeBlanks' is back for another round of shenanigans on May 31, with 100% of proceeds going to the ACLU!

THE WIZARD OF OZ opens The MUNY's 98th season this year, and it's a lively and colorful production that provides an enjoyable experience for kids of all ages. This is an excellent presentation of one of The MUNY's most beloved shows, filled with fine performances and enough action to keep even the tiniest of tykes fully engaged. Yes, I know the unseasonably hot weather we're currently experiencing is a consideration for a lot of patrons, but with the fans running at full blast, you'll find it's a lot more comfortable than you would expect. My son and I had a blast, and this is the fourth production of the musical he's seen, and as he said, easily the best. It's a perfect show to take the family to, and one I know that you'll have an absolutely wonderful time seeing. It's also a larger than life spectacle that fits the expansive MUNY stage like a glove.
