Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke - described byThe New York Times as a 'polished, welcoming host' who is 'young and vigorous, with a playful attitude' - will lead the orchestra and guest artist Ashley Brown in a festive concert featuring traditional favorites and new holiday hits. Judith Clurman to Conduct Essential Voices USA with New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, 12/19-20

Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA will be performing as part of The New York Pops holiday concerts, under the baton of Steven Reineke, at Carnegie Hall on December 19 and 20, 2013. Ms. Clurman will perform Stephen Paulus' choral work Wishes and Candles with her chorus and the orchestra, to honor her friend and colleague Stephen Paulus. It will be performed in a newly orchestrated version by Steven Mercurio. Wishes and Candles was composed in 1998. The text is by Alan and Marilyn Bergman. It is dedicated to Judith Clurman and the Lincoln Center Tree Lighting.

Los Angeles Master Chorale to Present REJOICE! CEREMONY OF CAROLS, 12/8

The Los Angeles Master Chorale adds warm musical cheer to the holiday season with "Rejoice! Ceremony of Carols," featuring Music Director Grant Gershon conducting four seasonal classics - Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, Respighi's beautiful Laud to the Nativity, filled with the rich imagery of the nativity story, Stephen Paulus's Christmas Dances, and selections from Vaughan Williams' Nine Carols for Men's Voices - on Sunday, December 8, 2013, 7 pm. The annual Rejoice! concert, hailed as "a grand display of choral magic" and an "enchanting way to embrace the arriving holiday season" (International Review of Music), is part of the noted county-wide "Britten 100/LA: A Celebration" curated by LA Opera. Gershon and KUSC Host Alan Chapman participate in ListenUp!, the pre-concert talk at 6 pm, free to ticket holders.

Bach Festival Society of Winter Park Announces Choral Concerts for 11/9-10

The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park has announced the program for the November 9 and 10, 2013, choral concerts. The program includesHymn of Eternal Flame by Stephen Paulus, featuring the Bach Festival Choir; Remembrance by Michael Isaacson, featuring Joni Roos, violin; Theme From Schindler's List by John Williams, featuring Brenda Higgins, cello; Little David Play Your Harp by Morton Gould; and The Road Home by Stephen Paulus, featuring the Bach Festival Choir.

In Mahler's mighty 'Resurrection' symphony, he dramatically addresses life-and-death issues as only he could-'one is battered to the ground and then raised on angels' wings to the highest heights.' CSO Music Director Jean-Marie Zeitouni opens the 2013-14 season by leading the Columbus Symphony Chorus, featured guest vocalists Dominique Labelle (soprano) and Sasha Cooke (mezzo-soprano), and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, including an off-stage brass ensemble echoing the last judgement from another world. This will also be the official debut of Jean-Sebastien Roy as the CSO's new concertmaster.

Lincoln Center Announces 2013 White Light Festival Lineup, 10/24-11/23

Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced the roster for Lincoln Center's fourth multidisciplinary White Light Festival, October 24 through November 23, 2013. The Festival's focus is music's capacity to illuminate the many dimensions of our interior lives, with a particular emphasis this year on the power of the voice. Spanning numerous musical traditions, genres, and disciplines, the Festival will offer 23 performances, films, and events featuring seven premieres and debuts by artists and companies from more than a dozen countries, including France, India, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, the U.K., Mali, Estonia, Italy, Austria, Canada and the U.S. New to this edition of the Festival is White Light on Film, film screenings followed by discussions with their directors. Other Festival components include: a panel discussion focused on the subject of time, pre- and post-performance artist discussions, and the popular post-performance White Light Lounges.

Pacific Symphony Presents Saint-Saëns' ORGAN SYMPHONY, Now thru 5/4

The mighty forces of the William J. Gillespie concert organ pair with fleeting violin passages and an orchestral rhapsody during Pacific Symphony's next classical concert, 'Saint-Saens' Organ Symphony,' featuring music by the French Romantics. The program opens with Emmanuel Chabrier's 'España,' the composer's most famous orchestral composition, inspired by Spanish music and dances. Taking place tonight through Saturday, May 2-4 at 8 p.m. in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

Organist Paul Jacobs to Perform at the Winter Center, 5/10

Grammy Award-winning concert organist Paul Jacobs performs Camille Saint-Saens's Symphony No. 3 with the Millersville University Orchestra conducted by Dr. Vera Volchansky. This evening will conclude the celebration of the opening of the Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center, and is dedicated to celebrating the newly-installed Walker Organ.

CSO and Chorus Honor Chorus Master Ron Jenkins with World Premiere of Stephen Paulus Commission

The Columbus Symphony and Chorus will open this special program with the world premiere of Of Songs and Singing by the widely acclaimed composer Stephen Paulus, commissioned in honor of and conducted by Ronald Jenkins, director of the Columbus Symphony Chorus and Chamber Chorus since 1982. CSO Music director Jean-Marie Zeitouni will then take the podium to conduct Knoxville: Summer of 1915, Barber's nostalgic homage to small-town America featuring guest soprano Dominique Labelle, and will add guest baritone Joshua Hopkins for the soul-stirring A German Requiem by Brahms (named after the language in which it is sung) with its profound messages of peace, hope, and consolation.

The University Glee Club of New York City Returns to Carnegie Hall, 1/18

The University Glee Club of New York City, the venerable all-men's choir established over a century ago to encourage male singing of the highest excellence, returns to Carnegie Hall to launch its 120th anniversary on Friday, January 18, at 7 p.m. Conducted by Francisco J. Núñez, the fifth conductor in UGC's history, the concert also features the gorgeously rich sounds of two other esteemed men's choirs, the Harvard Glee Club and the U.S. Naval Academy Men's Glee Club, as well as the Solisti Ensemble, an 11-piece string ensemble.

Bach Festival Choir & Orchestra’s 2012–2013 Opening Performance To Feature Visiting Composers, 10/27 - 10/28

The opening program of the 2012 Bach Festival Society Choral Masterworks series presents music by six contemporary composers and celebrates the themes of peace and light in two performances by the renowned Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra. The works on the program were selected to highlight some of the most accomplished choral and orchestra composers working today.

Cleveland Orchestra Performs World Premiere of Paulus's Violin Concerto No. 3, 10/11-14

Giancarlo Guerrero, music director of the Nashville Symphony and principal guest conductor of Cleveland Orchestra Miami, conducts The Cleveland Orchestra in concerts at Severance Hall that open with Igor Stravinsky's Petrouchka (complete ballet music, 1947 revision). After intermission, Cleveland Orchestra Concertmaster William Preucil is soloist in the world premiere performances of Stephen Paulus's Violin Concerto No. 3. The concerto was commissioned by The Cleveland Orchestra with the generous support of Linda and Jack Hoeschler and Peter and Mary Dahlen. The program concludes with Maurice Ravel's Rhapsodie espagnole.
