Art Garfunkel Comes to MPAC Tonight

John Pizzarelli & Jessica Molaskey Returning to Cafe Carlyle, 11/3-28

Cafe Carlyle is pleased to welcome back acclaimed husband-and-wife duo John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey for a four-week engagement, November 3-28. They'll make their annual fall pilgrimage to The Carlyle with an all-new show entitled My Generation. My Generation features selections from Mitchell to McCartney, Simon to Sondheim. Additionally, they'll be performing tracks from John's acclaimed new album, Midnight McCartney.

Christine Reisner-Rebic and Don Rebic to Release LOOK WHO'S IN LOVE to

On the heels of a successful run of their first cabaret act, Look Who's in Love, distinguished entertainers Christine Reisner-Rebic (an international cabaret chanteuse and dancer) and Don Rebic (Broadway and cabaret musical director, jazz pianist and composer) took their cabaret act into the recording studio. "Lucky in Love" features timeless standards as well as four songs of their own: "You're Making Me Nervous," "Two Heads Are Better Than One," "Leap of Faith" and the title track, "Lucky in Love."

MAXINE LINEHAN to Reprise PETULA CLARK Tribute Show in New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits Series at Metropolitan Room, 11/2

After a critically acclaimed 2014 run of her solo show Maxine Linehan: Beautiful Songs, Maxine will bring back her stunning 2009 cabaret show, What Would Petula Do? A Tribute to Petula Clark, on Monday, November 2 at 7 pm. The show is the third installment of New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits, Producer Stephen Hanks' new Cabaret Life Productions Series at the Metropolitan Room (the Associate Producer of the Series is Fr. Jeffrey Hamblin, MD). The show's director is Scott Siegel (Creator, Writer, Director and Host of The Town Hall's Broadway By The Year series and Writer, Director and Producer of Michael Feinstein's concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center) with musical direction by Ryan Shirar. Broadway and YouTube Sensation Morgan James Heads to Wharton Center, 12/6

Broadway superstar and seminal soul artist MORGAN JAMES brings a signature retro R&B vibe to rock the Wharton Center stage in her East Lansing return. MORGAN JAMES, part of The Doctors Company Variety Series, will be featured on Sunday, December 6, 2015, in the Pasant Theatre.

Buster Poindexter Returning to Cafe Carlyle, 9/29-10/10

As a founding member of the New York Dolls and in a prolific solo career, David Johansen has been a seminal force in rock and roll, influencing countless singers and bands to this day. Buster Poindexter, Johansen's celebrated alter ego showcases his elegant crooning through R&B ballads. As Poindexter, his previous engagements have been sellouts and he has become one of the most revered artists to grace Cafe Carlyle. In Buster's own words: 'I like to do a show that's a 'total entertainment package' with great songs and a lot of laughter, it's my vision of what great New York cabaret should be. In the all-new show I'm bringing to Cafe Carlyle, I'll be singing songs by Chet Baker, Cab Calloway, Mel Torme, John Lee Hooker, Bobby Rydell, some Broadway, Slim Gaillard, even a Sinatra just to name a few. Playing The Carlyle gives me the opportunity to perform some of the myriad of songs and musical styles that I love and to tell a few jokes. In the Coney Island of my mind, this is the show I'd like to see!' In what continues to become a Cafe tradition, the audience favorite returns to Cafe Carlyle for a two-week residency, September 29-October 10.

Betty Buckley to Teach Master Class in NYC Next Month

After finishing a critically acclaimed run  as Big Edie in Grey Gardens for the Bay Street Theatre, Tony Award Winner, Theater Hall of Fame 2012 honoree and legendary Broadway star Betty Buckley will be offering a 5 day Song Interpretation & Monologue Intensive Workshop at the T. Schreiber Studio in October.  One of the foremost professional theatre studios in New York City. Established in 1969, T. Schreiber has been a home and training ground for many artists who have gone on to successful careers in theatre, film, and television. The Tony Award Winner will assist aspiring artists, educators and experienced performers in the craft of singing, acting and storytelling.

Brian Stokes Mitchell to Make Cafe Carlyle Debut Later This Month

Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell makes his Cafe Carlyle debut to open the fall season, September 15-26. The two-week engagement, entitled Plays With Music, will feature Broadway favorites, standards and jazz filled with beauty, joy, whimsy, romance and of course, his inspired vocal interpretations. Stephen Holden of The New York Times recently said that Stokes "brings an unprecedented fusion of theatrical heroism, pop-jazz sizzle and emotional vulnerability" and that he has "revealed an expressive fearlessness that among male pop singers has been matched only by Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles." He will be accompanied by a trio led by his long-time pianist and collaborator, Tedd Firth with Gary Haase on bass and Mark McLean on drums.

Mark Nadler Launches New Monthly Series NEW YORK CABARET'S GREATEST HITS at Metropolitan Room Tonight

For diehard cabaret fans and lovers of live music, there's nothing like experiencing a classic show once again or seeing an award winning 'blast from the past' for the first time. That's how cabaret show producer and publicist Stephen Hanks felt and so through his new company, Cabaret Life Productions, he's launching a new monthly series at New York's Metropolitan Room (34 West 22nd Street) titled New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits. Hanks wanted the cream of the New York cabaret crop to open the series and tapped veteran cabaret star Mark Nadler, who the New York Times critic Stephen Holden has called 'Mr. Show Business' and 'an immensely talented latter-day Al Jolson.' On August 26 (7-8:30 pm), Nadler will perform his critically acclaimed show Tschaikowsky (And Other Russians), which won a 2003 Bistro Award for 'Raising Standards of Cabaret Performance,' and received MAC and Nightlife Award Nominations for 'Outstanding Performance in a Major Engagement.'

The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel has announced the Cafe Carlyle's fall 2015 season, which features the venue debuts of the Broadway veteran Brian Stokes Mitchell, who kicks off the season, and jazz vocalist Kurt Elling; as well as the return of audience favorites Buster Poindexter (aka David Johansen), Alexa Ray Joel, John Pizzarelli & Jessica Molaskey, and Steve Tyrell. 

Iris Williams to Perform at Birdland Jazz Club, 10/19

nternational song stylist Iris Williams returns to the cabaret scene in a rare New York appearance, a one night only solo performance - her debut at Birdland, the landmark jazz club located in the heart of New York's theater district. During Ms. Williams' set, themed 'I Wish You Love,' she will interpret classic American standards featuring composers Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Duke Ellington, Burton Lane, and more.
