Dubbed "The greatest white female singer in the world" by none other than Ella Fitzgerald, star vocalist Marilyn Maye took Provincetown audiences by storm in her highly anticipated debut at The Art House four summers ago, and again each year since. She returns to The Art House by popular demand this summer on August 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 at 7:00 PM featuring Billy Stritch on the piano, Steve Doyle on bass and Daniel Glass on drums. For Tickets visit www.ptownarthouse.com or call 800-838-3006.

Her more than 100 engagements in the last nine years in New York include sold-out multiple-nights at the Metropolitan Room, Birdland, five two-week runs at Feinstein's at The Loews Regency Hotel, New York's Town Hall, the 92nd Street Y Theater. She most recently presented Marilyn Maye, "Her Way", A Salute to Sinatra - her fifth appearance at 54 Below, in April of 2015 - an 8-day sold-out engagement. Stephen Holden of the New York Times wrote of her previous March 2013 shows at 54 Below "Ms. Maye may be turning 85 in April, but she has more voice and stamina than most singers half her age." "Wearing a glittering red dress, she could have been Mame, Dolly or any larger-than-life supergal from the Jerry Herman songbook to which she brings more vitality than any other contemporary performer." Just a year prior, he had similarly raved about her two-week engagement at Feinstein's in New York, "by the end of the evening, as is usually the case with her shows, I was walking on air, infused with a giddy certainty that life really is a cabaret."

Grammy-nominated Marilyn Maye has been called "A National Treasure," by the Houston Chronicle, performed on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson more than any other singer at 76 appearances, was named an Official Jazz Legend by the American Jazz Museum, and even had her recording of Lerner and Lowe's "Too Late Now" enshrined as one of The Smithsonian's Best Performers of the Best Compositions of the 20th Century. In October, 2011 the University of Missouri/Kansas City awarded her the "Lifetime Achievement Award." In September 2012 she was presented the "Kansas Citian of the Year" Award by the Greater Kansas City Sons & Daughters Association. She is the winner of the coveted Jazz Heritage Award, the 2008 and 2009 Nightlife Critics Award, the BackStage Bistro "Lifetime Achievement Award," and the MAC "Celebrity of the Year" award for the fourth year in a row: 2009, 2010, 2011, and again in 2012.

Billy Stritch is the pianist/music supervisor for Liza Minnelli and appeared on Broadway in Liza's at the Palace! He is also a singer and has performed all over the United States and internationally in such famed venues as Rainbow and Stars, The Russian Tea Room, and The Royal Albert Hall in London. He also appeared with Chita Rivera and Tommy Tune in a tribute to Jule Styne at the Palladium in London. Television appearances include Sondheim: A Celebration at Carnegie Hall, The Today Show, The Charlie Rose Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show. Stritch served as musical supervisor and vocal arranger for Liza Live from Radio City Music Hall, and writes arrangements for Liza Minnelli and Charles Aznavour's joint concert appearances worldwide. He acted as associate producer, pianist and arranger for Minnelli's Gently, which earned two Grammy nominations.

As a result of coming to the attention of Steve Allen, who invited her to appear on his show, Marilyn Maye signed a recording contract with RCA leading to a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist of 1965. In addition to her record-setting Tonight Show appearances, other television appearances include Ed Sullivan, Jackie Gleason, Dick Cavett, Hollywood Palace, and many others. Throughout her career, she has worked with many of the music industry's top arrangers, including Peter Matz who arranged and conducted her Smithsonian-honored album "The Lamp is Low," as well as with the renowned Don Costa, Manny Album and Don Sebelsky.

After a performance for The Mabel Mercer Society at Lincoln Center's Rose Hall in 2006, Maye was "rediscovered" and has enjoyed a major career resurgence, now known as the 'Cabaret Queen.' Conductor Peter Nero, with whom she has performed twice with the Philly Pops, said of her "She sets the standard for the way any pop, jazz or big band singer would like to sound." She has also appeared with Michael Feinstein at Zankel Hall, with Doc Severinson and the Phoenix Symphony, at Catalina's Jazz Club in Hollywood, the Rrazz Room in San Francisco, and many other notable venues. For The Art House, she will perform jazz and pop standards from the American Songbook composers such as Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman as well as songs from her RCA recordings. As Rex Reed recently wrote in The New York Observer, "Her show is not to be missed. It's a master class in singing conducted by a polished pro who majored in unforgettable."
