Choreographer Lydia Johnson will present her LYDIA JOHNSON DANCE in a program of new and repertory works to music that ranges from Philip Glass to the trio sonatas of Handel. The season's premiere will be Undercurrent, a group work for the Company's eight resident dancers joined by four apprentices, and set to music by one of the choreographer's favorite composers, Henryk Gorecki. Special guest for the season will be STEPHEN HANNA, former principal dancer with New York City Ballet. DEBORAH WINGERT, former 15-year member of New York City Ballet, returns as company ballet mistress.
Carnegie Hall announced today that its one-night-only benefit concert performance of Leonard Bernstein's Candide on Wednesday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage will feature Broadway starsRyan Silverman (Side Show, Cry-Baby,Chicago) as Maximilian and Bryonha Marie Parham (The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, AfterMidnight, Prince of Broadway) as Paquette. Francis Patrelle (Artistic Director/Resident Choreographer) founded Dances Patrelle in 1988 as an outlet for his choreography. Patrelle engages professional dancers and, for The Yorkville Nutcracker, he invites students of Ballet Academy East to dance many of the roles, as Nutcracker productions traditionally use children and young dancers for a large number of roles. This year marks the 22nd anniversary of Dances Patrelle's The Yorkville Nutcracker, which I saw on December 8, 2017.

???????The students of the Summer Musical Theater Intensive at Broadway Method Academy in Fairfield, CT had the amazing opportunity to work with Tony Award Winner, Kelli O'Hara (Light in the Piazza, South Pacific, King & I). The Tony Winner shared stories of her theatrical journey and spoke of the importance of capitalizing on uniqueness. Students had the chance to ask O'Hara questions about life and the business, and a few were able to sing for the Tony winner. Students were extremely grateful to take part in such a special experience.
