The Gift Theatre's Artistic Director Michael Patrick Thornton is proud to announce that 4802-the new play research and development wing of The Gift named after its storefront address located on N Milwaukee Ave in Jefferson Park-is now accepting applicants. In 4802, Chicago-based artists and artistic teams will be given residencies in the Gift Theatre's 40-seat storefront, providing dedicated tailor-made time, space, and support for their work.

Atlantic Theater Company has announced that the world premiere production of George Brant's play with music, Marie and Rosetta, starring Kecia Lewis (Mother Courage, Once on This Island) and Rebecca Naomi Jones (American Idiot, Hedwig and the Angry Inch) and directed by Atlantic Artistic Director Neil Pepe, has been extended an additional two weeks due to popular demand following opening last night to positive reviews.

There has never been a funnier tragedy than The Mofo with the Hat. Some may call this a dark comedy, but the humor here is so wonderfully and naturally integrated that the laughs come freely. At its core, this play is, surprisingly, a love story. It revolves around people thrown apart by lies and abuse issues, who just happen to have the most furiously colorful use of language. It's as heart-wrenching as it is side-splitting.

T. Schreiber Theater Announces 2016-17 Season

T. Schreiber Theatre, under the direction of Terry Schreiber and Peter Jensen, celebrates its 48th season with an eclectic mix of established plays and new works. The season opens with the New York revival of Stephen Adly Guirgis play The Motherf**ker with the Hat directed by Peter Jensen, which premiered on Broadway in 2011 and was nominated for 6 Tony awards. The season also includes Schreiber Shorts, an Evening Of One-Act Plays to feature 8 new works. Founder Terry Schreiber will direct the spring production, Loose Ends, the well known drama by Michael Weller. The season will culminate with the New Works Project, directed by Jake Turner, which will showcase a workshop production of one full length play. The season will be produced in full by Halle Morse, T. Schreiber's recently appointed Producing Director.

Founded in 1979 as Florida Shakespeare Theatre, GableStage originally performed the plays of Shakespeare in repertory, using the outdoor Casino Gardens at Vizcaya. From 1987 to 1992, Florida Shakespeare Theatre was housed in the Minorca Playhouse in Coral Gables, until it was destroyed by Hurricane Andrew. But the theatre's mission could not be destroyed, and it continued to produce at the Carousel Theatre in Coral Gables in 1993 and 1994. In 1999, the theatre moved to its current home, the historic Biltmore Hotel, and became GableStage.
