I'm often a very positive person, being able to see the silver lining of every situation, and do not like to admit or submit to hardships in my life. But to be completely honest, 2016 has been a difficult year. As life can be tumultuous sometimes, it can also be magnificent. Alas, here we are, at the conclusion of our year, and I thought I'd do a little 'Year In Review' of my 2016.

Primitive Grace Theater Ensemble will present the World Premiere of FRINGE OF HUMANITY written and directed by Obie Award winner and SAG Award nominee Paul Calderon. Co-starring David Zayas (Dexter), performances begin January 11 at Access Theater. Opening is slated for Thursday, January 19th.
Ragged Wing Ensemble to Premiere OVERNIGHT April 2017

In a first for Ragged Wing Ensemble, the 12-year-old physical theater company has announced a world premiere collaboration with the other resident companies of The Flight Deck, a multidisciplinary arts center it founded in the heart of downtown Oakland. With contributions by Ragged Wing, Gritty CityRepertory Youth Theatre, Theatre Aluminous, The Lower Bottom Playaz, and an original musical score by Oakland-based artist Kev Choice, OVERNIGHT is a play about the sudden appearance of a high-rise building in what had been a parking lot only the day before. Overnight opens in previews on March 31 and runs through April 22, 2017. Opening night is scheduled for Friday, April 7 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 - $45, and may be purchased online at raggedwing.org/overnight.
Steve Scott to Direct AH, WILDERNESS! This Spring at Goodman Theatre

Goodman Theatre Artistic Director Robert Falls announced today that his longtime creative collaborator, Artistic Associate and Producer Steve Scott, will direct the theater's production of Eugene O'Neill's Ah, Wilderness! this spring. Scott assumes this responsibility from Falls, who was originally announced as the production's director.
World Premiere Stage Adaptation of BUD, NOT BUDDY Set for the Kennedy Center

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents the world premiere of Bud, Not Buddy, a new play by Obie Award winner Kirsten Greenidge, adapted from Christopher Paul Curtis's acclaimed Newbury Medal-winning novel, with music by world-renowned jazz artist Terence Blanchard. This performance is most enjoyed by patrons age nine and up.

Due to extremely high ticket demand, Anna Deavere Smith's critically acclaimed new work, NOTES FROM THE FIELD, will extend for one week and will now play through Sunday, December 18th at Second Stage Theatre (305 West 43rd Street). The production, directed by Leonard Foglia and featuring original music composed and performed by Marcus Shelby, opened to rave reviews on November 2nd and was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, December 11th.
