San Francisco Playhouse presents the world premiere commission of Bauer by Bay Area playwright Lauren Gunderson.

Soho Rep. announces casting and performance dates for the world premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins's An Octoroon, directed by Soho Rep. Artistic Director Sarah Benson. The production, April 23-May 18, concludes a banner New York season for the celebrated playwright, whose Appropriate makes its New York premiere February 25-April 6 at Signature Theatre.

The Harold Clurman Playwrights Division, a program of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, has chosen actor/writer Dennis Staroselsky as it's Playwright-in-Residence for 2014. Previous residents include Halley Feiffer, Mia Chung, Anton Dudley, Christina Gorman, Zayd Dohrn, and Peter Nickowitz. Over seventy writers submitted applications and full-length plays for consideration in the merit-based annual search.

The studio is currently partnering with advocacy organizations Getting Out and Staying Out (GOSO) and Phoenix House, one of the country's most prominent drug rehabilitation centers. The studio also recently received a three-year, 21st Century grant from the U.S. Department of Education to bring a traditional theater school program into seven New York City low-income middle schools, which is considered a non-traditional setting.

La Jolla Playhouse presents its final production for its 2013/14 season: the world premiere of The Who & The What, by Ayad Akhtar, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright for Disgraced and author of the acclaimed novel American Dervish, directed by Kimberly Senior (Disgraced), running tonight, February 11 - March 9, 2014 (press opening: Wednesday, February 19 at 7:30pm) in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.

A three-week workshop, 'How to Write The Ten Minute Play - And Get It Produced!' will run for three Saturdays, Feb. 8, 15, 22, 2014, from 12 to 4pm at the Stella Adler Theatre.

Tonight, February 7 at 5:30pm at The Players, Elements Theatre Company of Orleans, MA will present an original work, Labyrinth: A Legacy of Language, exploring Shakespeare's influence on playwrights through the past four and a half centuries, from Sheridan to Ibsen to Stoppard. The production will be a springboard for a 7:00pm discussion in the ARTS IN CONVERSATION panel series hosted by Elements Theatre Company, on How Shakespeare Humanizes Our Culture: The Transforming Power of His Work. Lucas Samaras: Offerings from a Restless Soul features over 60 works drawn from The Metropolitan Museum of Art's rich collection of the highly idiosyncratic body of work made by Lucas Samaras. The Metropolitan Museum's installation includes a new gift of 17 objects that range from Samaras' abstract work of the 1960s to his recent digitally based pieces. Designed with the input of the artist, the installation will be installed in both the north and south mezzanine galleries in the Lila Acheson Wallace Wing for modern and contemporary art.

Riley Productions presents Tom Stoppard's THE REAL THING directed by Linda Alznauer at the Two Roads Theatre in Studio City. In this witty take on love and marriage, Henry, a famous playwright, finds himself the star of his own real-life drama. He discovers that what he has written in his latest play seems to be happening in real life and is turning his world upside down.

The Art of Acting Studio's professional company, The Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater Company, presents its Off-Broadway revival hit Lebensraum by Israel Horovitz, directed by Don K. Williams (Off-Broadway Lebensraum, Turn of the Screw, Look Back in Anger, Libidoff). The Harold Clurman Lab, recently nominated for a 2013 Ovation Award, will present Lebensraum today, January 24 - March 1st, 2014.

The Blank Theatre's Young Playwrights Festival is now seeking submissions nationwide from playwrights 19 years of age and younger. The submission deadline is March 15, 2014. Winning plays will be presented by professional actors and directors in June, 2014 at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, CA.

In celebration of the 65th Anniversary, the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York and Art of Acting Studio in Los Angeles have released a brand new video showcasing the unique culture and community of these two venerable institutions. The video provides an 'inside look' into the history, mission, curriculum and cultural programming of the studio. Over 60 students and 20 faculty participated in the making of the video created by Glamsmash Productions.
