Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent.

Elements Theatre Company of Orleans, Mass., a resident theater company whose core mission is to educate and illuminate through the arts, brings its 2015 touring program to New York City January 25 through February 11. The ?Harold Clurman Playwrights Division, a program of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting's Lab Theater, is now accepting new play submissions. In the second annual search for ten-minute plays with social impact, the division is calling for plays that address one of three themes: global gender violence, the environmental crisis, the school to prison pipeline.

The Harold Clurman Playwrights Division, a program of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, has announced that writer Sam Byron was selected to be Playwright-in-Residence for 2015. Previous residents include Dennis Staroselsky, Halley Feiffer, Mia Chung, Anton Dudley, Christina Gorman, Zayd Dohrn, and Peter Nickowitz. Over two hundred writers submitted applications and full-length plays for consideration in the annual merit-based search.

The Broadway community mourns the loss of acclaimed director, producer, writer, and performer Mike Nichols, who passed away on Wednesday evening at age 83. The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York were dimmed in his memory on November 21st, at exactly 7:45pm for one minute.
